You can try the site out yourself without going to the meetings if you want to lose weight so thought I would post this to help people.

I am going to try and update this thread every week with the new password we are given every week to get on the website

Some info in post 2 to help get you started. (Actually in post 3, thanks Sassie LOL!)

There is a food diary on the website where you can input everything you eat into the categories free food, healthy extras and syns.

With Slimming World you get some food which is completely free and you can eat as much as you want of.
On Green days you can have as much potatoes, dried pasta, rice, noodles, couscous and polenta as you want along with as much fruit and vegetables
On Red days you can have as much lean meat, poultry and fish as you want along with unlimited amounts of fruit and vegetables

Then you can have up to 4 'healthy extras' which on a green includes milk, cheese, bread, cereal, homous, meat, poultry, fish, nuts, soups and canned fruit.
On red days the healthy extras include cereal, potatatoes, bread, and pasta.
You will need to weigh your healthy extras.

After all this you can have up to 15 syns a day for sweeties and stuff. just to give an idea a bar of chocolate is about 10.
There is a syns online database where you can look up practically any food item and it will give you the syns value so that you can put it in your food diary.

The website database is extensive so I have given you enough info to get you going - you should find everything you need on the website.

Any questions please ask and I will do my best to help.

I hope others will find this tool as useful as I have

Yeah that's true, ours is good and it definitely does help.

However, I understand that some people may not want to attend classes, or have the time or money so thought that this may help someone

How long you been doing SW Amcol, 5 weeks here

Just had a mooch through the site and looks really useful. Got the jist of the whole red and green thing thanks to your helpful post, but is there anywhere on this site that says what days are supposed to be red and green and what they healthy option weights are etc, or do I have to join to get that info? Tar muchly

I lost nearly 5 stone a few years ago with SW, unfortunatly put most of it back on!
I rejoined last week and lost 8lb in my 1st week!!!!
It is a great plan to follow but I can't recommend going to a weekly class highly, enough the group motivation and handy tips really help.
This time once I get to my target weight I am going to keep going to class.
As for red/ green days, it's entirely up to you, lots of veggies have all green days, tho I must admit I tended to loose most on red days, maybe cos I pig out too much on jacket potatoes on the greem

Ah right, I didn't relise it was so flexible. That's my biggest downfall - I'm a carb and meat-a-holic :-D

I might have a serious look at this then, thanks very much

You can have as many green or red days as you want, it's totally up to you - I only do green days.

Everything you need is on the website, so you don't need to go to the classes, though I do agree that the classes are highly motivating and I would keep going once/if I do reach my target weight (long way to go LOL!)

Hope this helps

Thanks for this much appreciated!

I've had a look round the site and it's pretty good. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is that it's really looking for me to be cooking. My problem is I work long hours and often away from home. They mention a "Free Branded Foods" but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the site. Otherwise everything I have will be a syn!

I can't think of a list that has everything on it.

One thing that comes to mind is Birdseye Penne Arabiata (pasta with spicy tomato sauce) which is free on green days. It's in the freezer section with the ready meals.

Best way to do it is to type your current faves into the syn calculator on the food diary and see how they come out as syns total.

Hope this helps
