Just seen the new sly collection coming to PS3 looks cool, i never played any of the three games on PS2 so I might buy this, I was wondering if anyone else is? The collection is now in higher res, trophies, Both 3D & Move Compatible. Sony said they want to continue making these HD collections I personally think timesplitters HD collection would be awesome with multilayer :). Any other PS2 classic you would want to see on the PS3?

I'm waiting on the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD pack myself - can't be far off.

Yh Team Ico FTW :)

I only played Ico for the first time very recently, and couldn't believe how much influence it has had over games like Uncharted/UC2. The huge environments, climbing mechanism and beautiful views are all so similar - I think that Naughty Dog should be made to put some sort of disclaimer/acknowledgement in the credits to their games.

I have Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2, but have yet to fire it up. Not sure whether to wait for the PS3 update, as I have heard that the frame rate is very poor on the PS2 version (trying to push the old machine too far?).

Yeah, i never did play shadow of colossus, but i continuously heard good things about it. It was one of those games that did show the PS2's true potential. :) There's actually rumours around of a splinter cell collection and prince of Persia collection witch it pretty cool.

Just read that article at C&VG - sounds interesting. I've never played Splinter Cell, but enjoyed the early Prince of Persia games (particularly Sands of Time).

It seems that Amazon.fr have both collections listed. They have also had Uncharted 3 listed for a while too. Either they have someone in the know on board, or they are wildly optimistic.

Gradius V (the only PS2 game I still regularly play). I already run it at a higher resolution using PC emulation but a lot of the screen effects would look great on additional 3D plains.

Alternatively, Global Defence Force 8)

I dont think Sony would make a remake a game in HD for PS3 unless its more than one game,

Looks like we won't be seeing Gregory Horror Show then...

Have you tried EDF?
#10
Yeah, but thats the whole point of these collections its a series of games up scaled with new features. And playable on the PS3, Maybe they had this idea ages ago, maybe thats why they took away the backwards compatibility haha.

I keep meaning to pick it up but it is supposed to be inferior.
The development team are apparently working on a similar title with mythical creatures.

That is another one on my PS2 'to play' list. Would you recommend it?

I wouldn't call it a classic but well worth picking up if you see it £5 - £8.
It's the kind of game I feel would work better on the DS (In fact they should definitely release it for the 3DS!)

Cheers. I actually have it here, but have never got around to playing it. I will definately give it a go.

PS. Only "Sly 3" ("...Honor Among Thieves") will be in 3D. The first two instalments ("Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus ", & "Sly 2: Band of Thieves") in the franchise will be as before but rendered ('uprated') to high definition.

All three are incredibly well written, casted, and entertaining for both young & old alike.
The release of this title though cannot come soon enough for me, as I rate this series very highly in my video game collection(s). Hopefully "Sly 4" will not be too far away either (once Sucker Punch Productions complete "inFAMOUS 2") but no formal announcement on this title has been made as yet (other than “it will be coming…at soon stage in the future”).

PPS. Also of note is that the PlayStation Move title "Heroes on the Move" also features Sly Cooper & Bentley (as well as Ratchet, Clank, Jak, & Daxter).

Poor Murray & Carmelita Fox do not make an appearance (yet). Maybe they will in the game, but not as playable characters.

PPPS[3]. Did anybody (who has played "inFAMOUS") spot the reference to "Sly Cooper 4" on one of the buildings? Main character, Cole MacGrath, also has a Sly Cooper symbol on his back-pack.

I've not played the title, but I believe one of the in-game Trophies is titled "You're so Sly".

Of course, "The Sly Collection" was not 'ported' from the PS2 to the PS3 by Sucker Punch. This task was undertaken by Sanzaru Games (who also developed "Secret Agent Clank" for the PSP/PS2). They also developed "Ninja Reflex" for the Wii, but we'll not mention that! ;)

BFN,

"Uncharted 3" (or, rather, further instalments in the series) was mentioned by Amy Hennig (Creative Director [Scripts Writer] at Naughty Dog) upon the release of "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves", fc.

I wouldn't rule out an appearance by Nathan Drake on the PlayStation Portable platform either.

It's also been mentioned by Nolan North (voice of drake) and would be stupid not to as the Uncharted franchise has done pretty well I think.

Back on subject. I'd love to see Ratchet and Clank, GTA, PoP, Splinter Cell, Team Ico, NFS, MGS, plus a load more I can't think of now! I think we'll see 2-3 at Gamescom next Tuesday and if not TGS 16-19 September :)
