Okay, so i have been buying these on and off, because they have literally no difference to princes or john west, until today.. just opened a tin, and when u go to squeeze the excess brine it doesn't do anything.. the tuna isn't flakes at all, it is just mush with bones in, Chucked the first tin out, second tin was the same... I know you say you get what you pay for, but its still 45p or so a tin.

theres tuna flakes, and tuna steak from smart price - oops (tuna chunks as mentioned below)

and then theres Ghana and Seychelles country of origin (or lately not mentioned)

the ghanain is crud whichever way, and the flakes are probably more like fish dandruff than food

The john west stuff is always on offer at around £2.50 for 4 tins. I'd go the extra 20p (per tin) in future

the ''tuna chunks'' are 45p. Are you sure you dont usually buy them? As the tuna flakes have always been like that

you can ask (or phone asda) and get a refund on this, i know, its a few pence, but its worth letting them know such a product is rubbish, and on principal would prefer your money back, they do have a refund policy on anything you dont like

I once had a fishfinger at school that was full of the stuff they usually chuck out like eye balls, bones etc. and have never had any fishfingers since. I think sometimes they must get the 'use' and 'throw away' piles mixed up and you get the gross bits by mistake. No excuse though and incredibly revolting.

I just bought a bag of Smart Price Pork and Beef mince for the dog, (87p for a BIG bag) As it cooked the crap that oozed out of it stunk and the dog wouldn't even eat it!!

It used to be good though as I got it but many supermarket products are lesser quality these days, I know for some its outsourcing as in a Scottish town near where I grew up they used to make ready meals, fish fingers, smoke the salmon etc and it was good stuff then they outsourced to India and the quality took a huge nosedive! I remember talking to a girl once eating Tesco prawns and saying I buy them too and she said she used to get the brand name ones(the same brand as now outsources) but in the last year or so(exactly the same amount of time they outsources) the quality has gotten awful.

Anyway I got some Sainsburys Tuna 2 years ago and it just tasted like I was chewing ash and bones.

Don't they catch them in Scotland, ship them to the far east then fly them back? Much cheapness. What a world we've created! Good for AirMiles, though, so look on the bright side.

Osprey!

Haha, absolutely disgusting stuff.

I generally only buy John West nowadays after having a few issues with quality - even with Princes.

If I can stretch, I'll get tuna steak chunks.
