Anyone any more ideas how to make the smell vanish (other than replacing it!!) before I start looking at the pipe work???

Run a boil wash without any washing/clothes in the machine.

Constantly running washes at low temps (30 - 40) degrees can cause the smell in your machine. If you run a boil wash once a month without anything in the machine it will prevent the smell from reappearing in the future.

It has always leaked slightly at the front but I think the smell is coming from inside the machine rather than the outside. Thanks for the suggestion though - I'll check around the back shortly

Mine did this but its ok now, not sure why lol

It sound like the water is not draining properly, check draining pipe is not blocked or twisted, they do get bunged up with washing powered sometimes.

usually a build up of washing powder in the pipes... happens cos we tend to use just cool washes these days... run a hot wash through a few more times it should break it down and clear it

All hope is not lost then. Fingers crossed as I'm sure my clean washing is going to come out smellier than when it went in soon

Has op not alredy done that:thinking: with bicarb?

Yeah but they should run a boil wash with ordinary washing powder instead of the bicarb. It happened to my machine in the past and the boil wash should definitely get rid of any smell.

I used one of those calgon lime scale removers in mine and it got rid of the smell

We had this problem with ours, did everything you have and still smelt. we pulled it out and checked the waste pipe and it was disgusting, all clogged up with fluff and god knows what else. Disconnected it, cleaned it out, flushed through with jeyes fluid and it has been fine since.

or if none of these work, tell husband to wash his own socks

Yeah mine was leaking, and behind by the wall and all in the machine was skanky with mould, my dad came and moved it and took it apart as hubby was away, it stank like nothing else, horrid:oops:

Mine stank to high heaven too when I opened the filter and saw the disgusting mess in there. I was sure that cleaning that would eliminate the prob but I've obviously been neglecting it for too long and have another problem somewhere :x

Check your outbound filter - mine was bunged up with all sorts of ick!
It also drained a lot better afterwards.

This happened to mine too. Mine was blocked and this left a terrible smell in the machine.

Open the door and check the fold in the rubber seal at the bottom. You may have some gunk lodged in there. Give it a good wipe with kitchen roll and Bob's your watsit.
