Smoking ban set to be reviewed

FYLDE coast clubs and pubs have hailed a review into the smoking ban as a huge boost for the industry.

Ministers will launch the review into the ban, which was introduced in 2007.

Since then there have been fears it is crippling the pub and bingo hall trade.

Resort landlords have welcomed the review, earmarked for later this year, and are calling for rules to be relaxed....

i think hes saying her cant drink in the beer garden because of the smoke.....hed rather have it inside as well:?

maybe im wrong
#10
The beer garden is where all the smokers go, forcing the non smokers to stay inside to enjoy their pint.
banned#11
oh i see, the weatherspoons we have here wont even let you smoke in the beer garden.

if a smoker wants to smoke set him on fire......simples.;-)

They should have smoking zones and non-smoking zones.

It has killed the trade, Lots of non-smokers want the ban lifted too.

Beer gardens are no good in winter.

Lots of people stay at home drinking instead, Loads cheaper and free to smoke.
banned#14
They should have just let pubs decide if they want to be smoking pubs, or non-smoking pubs.

That way all the cool people could be in one place, and all the others in another.

Having said that, there is a certain kinship amongst those forced outside to indulge their freedoms - a real icebreaker.

+ millions.

Whilst I wouldn't call someone who smokes "scum", it is a filthy habit. Why should I have to smell of other peoples dirty habit?

I would love it if everyone quit, the government would then have to come up with some kind of £250 per year tax to make up for the short fall.

I am a non smoker but disagree with much of the smoking ban, I dont mind smoking rooms or smoking areas but I find it stupid that you have so many restrictions plus it encourages bad behaviour in doorways and means if I want a drink I have to go through a crowd of smokers to just enter the bar!! How is that protecting me when if they had their own area inside then it wouldnt come near me!

LOL.

Yes, because that's exactly the same...

Why should I have to stink just because I fancy going out for a drink? If people want to smoke, it's their business. But I shouldn't have to suffer because of it, and thankfully the law agrees.

how is it bull? Since the smoking ban came in thousands of pubs have closed, but then presumably thats just a coincidence?

True, in my home town bars that have been there for years if not decades suddenly closed and havent reopened, so even if its not affecting "closures" its affecting them getting reopened.

The only bars that have stayed open in my home town and even another closeby town are student bars and busy local bars in housing estates or town centres.

I know a person who owns a pub, its not so much the smoking ban, but the ever increasing taxes on alcohol, and more importantly, the prices that the breweries set, that are causing the falling trade, small, individual pubs are getting too expensive.

I'd rather pay £250 and be able to breath properly and not smell like crap.

Might I suggest a gym membership and some soap/deodorant.

Hope that helps.

I agree, However I believe in choice and smokers shouldn't be penalised, The amount we pay in taxes covers our heathcare etc.. and if it doesn't let us die.

Perhaps they should have special licenses to allow smoking pubs and non-smoking pubs, If they have separate zones and only license so many pubs in the area that can be smoking pubs.

Then it's the non-smokers choice if they want to be subjected to possible smoke toxication.

You moan about smokers yet lots are killing themselves with alcohol and we all know alcohol in excessive use is far more dangerous than smoking and has a lot worse side affects etc..

Drink driving - Killing yourselves and others
Breaking families up because of being an alcoholic etc...

Alcohol is worse than smoking.

They should ban alcohol from pubs too.

Or the idiots who find holding burning paper next to their faces enjoyable can stay outside like animals where they belong.

I dont smoke - but that is such a pathetic post

Damn stupid ban in the first place. People should be allowed to smoke in public places ( in controlled areas ). For the record i very rarely smoke.

It isn't being reviewed, personally I am glad. Smoke at home, in your own transport or in the countryside not where it affects other people.

Never mind a smoker, judging by your posts you would need to beat the wet paper bag first:)

not a fan of smoking but if it bothers me that much I will just shift out of the way, most of my smoking mates have the decency to ask if anyone minds if they smoke before lighting up
