Snowed in again

So I have been housebound since Tuesday evening. There have been no buses running since then and seeing as I have no transport of my own I have been housebound. No work (which ain't bad) but can't collect my son from his mothers which does upset me. Can't believe the roads can be that bad around here.

Stick with it .
Were all in the same boat .I'm fed up myself now , haven't been to work since Monday . Been doing erands ,a bit shopping and paying some bills for my 84 year neighbor in the downstairs flat who hasn't been out in weeks.
As long as you can stay in touch with everyone by phone ,it's something at least .
I'm just about to walk to my place of work , a school at the top of he town to see if I can be of service , clearing the paths or anything to fill my time . Catch up with some jobs around the house while you have the time .

Because people like an excuse to be lazy ;-)

It's like living in a Skii resort round here, the sun is out but it's freezing and the snow just will not go! Awesome.

thats exactly it!!

people go over the top and dramatic!
i no its freezing i no the roads are icy
you just have to take more time,
set out earlier, walk slower, drive slower!
if the buses dont run down your road, then walk to the main road where they are running
or if worse comes to worse, get a taxi - it wont be for long

its impossible to be "snowed in" unless the snow is covering your door and you cant ope the door.

I wouldn't go that far. If you live in a village in the middle of nowhere and get a few snow drifts you're pretty much screwed

Most people don't though.....

We have no buses running at all and the police shut the taxi firms down the other night, some are allowed during the day but only a few.

Which village?
#19
It's 7 miles to work. Too far in -5 weather especially for a 3 hour shift. And ther are zero buses running period. It's not always a case of being lazy but of genuinely being stuck. If I had a car I would actually attempt to go work etc as I'm sure most roads are drivable to some degree, but I don't so I can't. The joys of living in a small village in the Scottish Borders

I completely agree, nobody is snowed in unless they physically can't get outside, which would need around 6ft of snow or more.
Every year we get snow, and not a lot of it in comparison to most countries, and the country always grinds to a halt.
I think if we had snow for 6 months a year, everybody would be dead, and the economy would be non-existent.

Three foot icicles hanging outside my window and no post for almost a week.

If this goes on much longer I'll have to start getting my body ready for the Thunderdome as that will probably be the new law.

The one in the middle distance has actually gone below the sill of the window. :w00t:
