Just spent 30 mins scraping 6 inches of snow and ice off my car after just about gettingt it started but cant get the 200m from my house to the main road which is gritted but my street is not, so cant get to work. I am upset. Honestly. What the hell am i going to do all day now?

Everyone else sad or glad to be snowed in?

yes, i agree 100% we either looses money or make up the hours, never mind almost killing ourselves on the way there, driving or walking....

took me an hour to walk home yesterday, usually 20 mins max:x

In Peterborough :) It seems to have completely missed us overnight........there is still a very small dusting from yesterday which has frozen into ice overnight but that's it.

we had about 10 inches yesterday, never seen snow like it, scraped it all off the car and wheelspan to the mainroad, took me nearly an hour to get to the motorway and about 2 hours to get to work (9 miles) away.
alot easier today, still loads of snow and ice but the traffic is alot less.
some people in our work havent been in for 2 days and they live in walking distance!

I know, we are literally 2 mins away from the solihull border and school is open. Typical. I was suprised when I got a text from school to say its open, luckily only a 5 min walk.

Im sure your new job would understand though, bet lots of people are in the same boat :)

ur school not in Solihull then, i thought it would have been, checked the Solihull council website and all schools shut. OH works over in shirley and said was quite easy getting to work at 3am this morning. alot of the teachers from DD's school live in Coventry so can understand ours being shut, DD not happy tho just came in saying she wants to go and its not fair if we can walk to school why cant everyone else lol (we live 2 minutes away)

No, its still Birmingham, even though the next road is Solihull

Thats the thing isnt it, a lot of teachers travel a fair way to work, maybe thats where the problem is, mind you its started snowing again :)

Teachers have the right to choose where they live as much as anyone???

Radio presenters/producers stayed in London hotels last night to ensure they got in, others have stay with friends etc, if you do live a large commute away and have the option to stay overnight with someone locally, clearly anyone sensible would of done this?

Everybody buy snowboots off ebay and walk to school or work thats what I say

It's started again this morning, hopefully I won't get snowed in at work
Had to walk in on sheet ice, can't believe the paths haven't been gritted.

I would volunteer to do a bit of gritting if I had some grit and a shovel - It's truly treacherous.
I'm just surprised as It's a particularly busy street just off the city centre, people are walking in the road as the paths are so deadly.
