So annoyed, gamestation have ruined my day now !!

Had a good morning up the city with my little boy, went in gamestation and found a DS game for my little girl in the preowned section, made my day knowing she would be excited when she got home. Well i just opened up the case and they didnt putting the sodding game in there ! so i paid £8 for an empty case. i am so annoyed so i phoned them up and they say cant do anything i will have to go back into the store & discuss it. So i have to now waste an hr there & back and hope that they will sort it out & find the game for me.

AAARRGGHHHH my lovely happy day has been spoiled just like that. do you guys think i should go nuts at them or try to keep it calm (with 2 small kids in tow it may not be possible).. Will they beleive me or think i am trying to swing a free game ? that is what i am worried about going all that way to be told sod off we dont beleive you.

Time to get your daughter a flashcart. She'll be over the moon then.

Moral of the story, check the case before you leave the shop :)

Still sucks though as I had to learn the hard way too with HMV many years back!

maybe you should have checked the contents in the store..................................

Surely they'll realise their mistake when they find the game in the store without its case? Its not a new one, its used so should be somewhere as they wouldn't have taken an empty case in exchange would they?

i never thought to check the case as i saw him wander off and sort thru their draw of games so you just assume that he had put it in there. this is a nightmare coz i wont be able to get back into the city today so wont be able to sort it until the weekend.

This has happened to me before, went back to the store and they found the game, I check the boxes before I leave now, they should be able to sort it for you.

...why go nuts?! People make mistakes. Go in there and explain the situation. They would be more inclined to help you if you do not try and make their job more difficult. Just explain that you are incredibly inconvenienced by this and see what they say.

Chances are they will have an extra copy of this particular game in their stock pile compared to one less box on the shop floor.

Game did a similar thing to three of my mates, one they didn't put the game in at all, one they only put the bonus disk in and not the actual game disk and the other they sold him a preowned ps3 and didn't include a controller

Exactly

OP clearly hasn't ever made a mistake before.

And if this ruins your day - heaven forbid anything truly awful happens!!

The two with the missing disks did, the staff just went and checked the number of preowned boxes to the number of preowned disks. When they found they had one more disk than boxes they gave it to them and said sorry for the inconvienence.

So you should be alright just going in and explaining what happened

Moral of the story check the boxes before you leave from now on :)

i understand people make mistakes, i wasnt going to ever go back in the store all guns blazing and i'm sorry if the thought that i've lost my money isnt drastic enugh to be upset about. I dont have much money to start with and what little i do manage to spend on my kids i like to use wisely as everyone does (hense these deals forums), this just feels like a fail for me coz now the little bit of money i saved this morning getting the game cheap is going to be eaten up when i have to drive back to the store & pay for petrol/carpark etc. this would just be so much easier if you could actually speak to the store but you cant, they dont have direct phonelines.

dont get me wrong im not "ready to slit my wrists" depressed about it but i'm still p'd off.

Hey Jimston,

Try go to saynoto0870.com and looking up Gamestation, a direct landline number of the Gamestation you purchased the game from may be listed there - might be worth trying and see if you can discuss it on the phone.

Hope everything works out for you and your child can play the purchased game eventually - from the comments of other members things may work out (if the staff check their games against their number of game cases).

Kind regards,
Scar

PS:
And yes good moral of the story would be to always check the contents of whatever you're buying before leaving the store - I recall buying Resistance 2 pre-owned from Gamestation and realising (before leaving) that the case was broken on the bottom, after a quick enquiry they swapped the cases for me.

You can find the individual branch phone numbers, just type your branch in on google and it should be there.

have rang the local number and it goes thru to the same call centre. but i have managed to get them to put me thru to the store. unfortunately the store say they will have to look at their cctv footage from the time i bought the game (not sure why) so i am now waiting for a call back.

CCTV should show whether or not the assistant did put the game in the box or not.
