it's as if neil kinnockhas been rebooted. those daft labout supporters just don't get it and have now consigned themselves to another generation of opposition.

What a joke, honestly.

Both the Millibands are idiots.

The only decent one was Diane Abbott - Always has down to earth views, but as if they would let a women lead Labour.

I tend to agree tbh,and it gives me no pleasure to say so-he won because of his backing from the unions, which makes him an easy target in any future general election.

He seems a sensible guy,but I have a feeling labour just shot themselves in the foot.

I have little or no time for Either Miliband (although Ed has always spoken more left retoric). However what is the point of power if not to change things.

If you want the Tories then vote Tory. If you want Liberal government then vote Lib Dem (although we now see what that means).

Labour were supposed to be a party of the workers (although this was never really true), so at the end of the day if they cannot win the argument for at least some left wing ideas and then end up being more Tory than the Tories AKA Tony Blair then whats the point of getting into government?

My point was not that the Tories are not awful, but if people think that Labour have to ape the Tories arguments and behavior to get into power then we have very low to zero expectations of any positive change in the way society works.

While I grant you the excesses of the Labour mp's were not as obviously ostentatious, that I would argue is partly because they still have to be accountable to ordinary workers and the lives they live. However the longer Labour continue to build a culture of "we have to be slightly less horrible Tories" the smaller and smaller the difference will be, until one day it will be the size of moat and duck house that makes them "more" on our side!

timely bump now that david miliband, the only semi decent politician labour had has decided to step down from front line politics. He probably knows the writing is on the wall for this sorry bunch.

was pretty certain this would happen-how could he possibly serve under his brother? also since david supported the war in iraq and still believes it to have been legal and right, and ed doesnt, its not really a situation they could ever reconcile.
