My kilt and Scotland top are all ironed and ready! Roll on morning time and that first pint in me to calm the nerves!!!

Come on the Scots!!!

We'll be coming,
We'll be coming,
We'll be coming down the road,

We done really well this time round, it just sucks we were in one if not the hardest groups with the 2 world cup finalists and a quarter finalist. Expect to see us in the World Cup!

Oh and I've noticed some weirdos who seem to be getting a little too much pleasure out of us losing, just found it odd when the rest of the world bar Scotland expect us to lose
#19
so close but yet so far but unlucky but what made the day even worse is that engalnd are bound to qualify now but thats football hopefully celtic will qualify for the champions league knock out

Dont give me that. If the boot was on the other foot, there would be no end of Scots on here rubbing our noses on it.

Quite ironic that the Scots were in the best position at start of play today, England starring the Under Performers were biting on their nails .........now .......England are in the driving seat and Scotland are back in the pub!!

Nevermind, I was like every "cough cough" every other Englishman was hoping the Italians were going to stuff ya but you have to be proud of their performance. Its a damn pity it takes a side that looks like it should be playing conference football play with more heart and passion than our bunch of overpaid pre madonnas!!

Unlucky but come on England "play for the flag" take a hint out of Scotlands book!!

Oh and come on Northern Ireland, if they beat Spain next week they qualify too I am led to believe!!

whoops just a quick dig! Scottish football has a complex personality, Rangers want to be English and Celtic want to Irish!!

Maybe after the national side performance they both might want to be SCOTTISH!!

You dont see any of the premiership sides trying to be something they are not!

No, our destiny is in our own hands. I just hope we dont choke like Scotland did today.

I hadnt seen the game until the highlights tonight. I did think a comment in another thread about the ref, was probably sour grapes, but having seen it now, Scotland were robbed of a point. The Itialian did foul and then handball. How that becomes an Italian freekick, I'll never know..... but then having seen the corruption in Italian football past and present, it makes you wonder!

I would have loved to see Scotland Qualify, as I do all the home countries (inc Eire), but it wasnt to be. At least Scotlands form will give them a better chance for the World cup group qualifiers having been moved up to second seeds.

Most Scottish fans love to see England fail - and whilst I wont deny that is reciprocated, just think it a great shame. England have no realistic chance of winning the cup - even if they manage to avoid defeat against Croatia and qualify. So will you be one of those pleased we fail - or do well?
#26
but the scots goal was a handball although still i scotland played better but from here on i think italy may win it.

Aye but English people think their team has to win everything, but they've done quite badly this year :whistling: 1966!

Not denying that at all. And for the record I think Scotland did brilliantly to even be in this position and were very unlucky not to qualify.

Yes, that was the last time we won a major tournament..............remind me, when did you last win one. :whistling: :-D

Anyway.......i'm off to laugh myself to sleep. :giggle:

Its not that Scottish people want English to fail, they just are fed up with constantly hearing how superior England is from its fans and getting told we will fail all the time, as even when England does badly they are praised, it could be something simple like they only lost 1-0 or the players were on top form.

Its just bad communication between the media and the public, the media makes out Scotland are all bitter twisted people who beat up every English person they meet, and people seeing these news stories believe this.

During the world cup even though Scottish were supporting Englands opponents, we saw any England supporters we were friendly with them, its just many of you guys dont have a sense of humor lol.

Surprised to see English people on here support Scotland for a change.
#31
Good post ryouga! When I say I support the opposing team instead of England it usually is a joke, would rather England won than any of those mainland countries anyday :) Just wish comentators for the international competitions wouldn't say things like "This could be 1966 all over again!" every England match. I'm glad at least one of the home countries got through though I wished so much to see Scotland go through
[mod]#32
Exactly Robo............it's all just the usual banter. I'd have preferred to see Scotland go through than Italy.

I'd like them to bring back the Home Countries Trophy and then we'd all have a chance of winning something occasionly.

no i would like to see england do well believe it or not,i was just biting after reading all the anti scottish comments on here after a few shandys.there does seem to be just as many england fans who like to see scotland fail,so it is not all one way.
#34
Now the dust has settled folks, please can you tell me why all the angst to the ref? The ref's assistant gave the so called dodgy free kick that we scored from. The other one, disallowed a perfectly good goal for Italy, early doors which would have made it 2-0, perhaps game over, only to then later on, give a goal where ferguson was offside when the shot came in.

It was a good game, some dodgy decisions against both sides.
#35
The result would've probably been the same, but the other decisions had some question about them.

The free kick that led the goal for Italy was diabolical, can you tell us what it was for?

To be honest, this anti scottish outlook, is after years of anti England opinions from Scottish fans. Ive asked several people I know why they think that way and their answer is always the same. "Because they always want us to lose". That negativity from the English hasnt always been as pronounced as appears to be the case now. And why Scottish fans have always thought that, I will never understand, but it does seem to be the case for the majority. Maybe its a political thing?

I suppose you heard the re-write of the Argentinian song that was going to be released? It was something along the lines of "We're going and England are not." All good humour you might say, but it would hardly likely get English fans behind you given its basically a nose rub! But hey, thats football! But regardless, I still wanted Scotland to beat Italy. The door has now well and truely been opened for England to qualify. If they dont (ie Croatia beat us at Wembley) then no one can have anything to moan about. As it stands, I expect us to win and finish top of the group. Something that was inconceivable before yesterday!

I've not seen it since, and tbh, cos they scored from it, i cannot remember it now  just all the vitriol that has come from it.

Please don't think i am bandwaggoning here. I cheered when Zola scored against In-ger-land, whilst i was in a pub cram packed full on In-ger-land fans.....big mistake lol!

I was not picking fault. I am an England armchair fan, but always want Scotland to do well.

I just can not see any justification of awarding the free kick.
#39
I can see you weren't picking fault, you'd have been more forthcoming i am sure were you so doing, but then again, i ask, why did the assistant disallow the Italy "2nd goal" and allow the Scotland one?
See what i mean?
#40
is this not a plausible reason for "video referees" to be introduced, especially in high profile matches? Video review panels work perfectly in rugby and cricket, adding intensity to the final decision by the referee; and the time taken for that decision to be passed on is not very long at all.
