I was lucky when I had this problem the doctor just cut my head off.

Its a little tedious at first but you get used to it

:p

i thought prozac was for depression or similiar

Fluoxetine (trade names: Prozac, Sarafem, or in combination with olanzapine Symbyax) is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. Fluoxetine is approved for the treatment of major depression (including pediatric depression), obsessive-compulsive disorder (in both adult and pediatric populations), bulimia nervosa, panic disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

Sounds like you need to kick back and chillax

that seems a bit severe! You don't want to get on those medications unless you really need them, I know.

Depression is not something that can be so easily cured.

Why are people so against anti-depressants?

If your doctor thinks you need them.

They are probably right.

I was going more along the lines of stress the op mentions...
after feeling my neck he says stress

a bit less sever than depression. Thanks for the link though I will study it now xx

Great Dr, normally takes more than one appointment to get some decent like Prozac :D

Do you suffer from anxiety?

It could act as a muscle relaxant? I am sure the Dr had their reasons, maybe your neck problem is tension related.

I know antidepressants are used for many things, not just depression, to treat Migraine etc.

I know a lot of people whose lives have been saved by taking anti-d's.

I am glad they are still here and I also know somebody who might have benefited and he is in a grave.

I'm not against anti-depressants as such but there should be alternatives tried first either milder meds but more importantly therapy which is virtualy impossible to get.

I guess med's are the only option then for some people.

Therapy is in demand.

OP I would maybe look into relaxation methods................google for things that might appeal to you

im not depressed but to be honest he probably was right with the stress

had a hectic month in work ,trying for another baby, and in process of maybe selling house

just never thought stress would work like that anyway i did express concerns about the prozac but he's the doc and i think he knows more about it than me

just wondered if anyone else had been in same boat

Sorry don't want to hijack the thread make this the last one.
You're right DLM, I wasn't having ago at the Dr'sor anyone else necessarily just the system. The meds helped me but they were a nightmare to start and even worse to get off.

I know what you are saying.

Take care.

OP how do u know your not depressed - you havent yet been diagnosed by HUKD X)

Just try chill and google methods of relaxation. Sometimes life can go soooooo crazy and you can find it hard to catch up.

Think you will find sufferers of depression are quick to diagnose depression to others. Just take your time and find something that will work for you.

Try the relaxation idea like someone else said, make time for yourself, recognise what is stressful to you be honest and write them down. as just an example, if the house moving is so stressful put it on hold, if you can, for a while. Talk to your partner about how you are feeling and what you can do together about it.

You need to get down to Zucca's restaurant on the Main Street - that will be a nice relaxing evening for you. I know Yaseem the owner and go there couple of times a month. One of the nicest places to have a good nosh up plus it has a lovely romantic RELAXING setting :D

very common symptom of stress is lump in throat, GP is correct. fluoxitine or prozac as its commonly known is an excellent anti depressant. I would try relaxation also,, go for a massage. Try http://www.livinglifetothefull.com. its free, and recommended by nhs psychiatrists.
banned#34
I would get a second opinion as prozac is a strong medication with its own common side effects and can be adictive. Very surprised this was prescribed for short term stress and more so when you say you dont even fell stressed!
#35
It's only Wikipedia, but:

In some cases the cause is unknown and symptoms may be attributed to a psychogenic cause i.e. a somatoform or anxiety disorder. It has been recognised as a symptom of depression, which responds to anti-depressive treatment

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globus_pharyngis

If you've got a sore throat just think yourself lucky that you're not a giraffe!
[mod][Moderator]#37
I must admit going in straightaway with Prozac does sound a little excessive, personally I'd nip back to the GP and have a quick chat about alternative treatments, I won't make diagnosis on an internet forum, my registration is worth far more to me lol, but if it was me in my personal life thats what I'd be doing.
Good luck
