10% is fine; in fact I'm leaning towards no taxi tip now-a-days.

You have become obsessed!!! It's only your wedding for goodness sake. Get a grip.:w00t:

It depends on the service. When I get my hair cut at salon where all the celebs go I normally tip around £50 (the hair cut costs £250).

When I go to a restaurant (two michelin stars ((atleast)) obviously) I normally tip the waitor/waitress atleast £100.

I'd tip 10% if I thought it was worth it...
Generally I don't like to tip unless I think they have been attentive. My bf always tips, his tips are too generous in my oppinion as well lol.
I must just be mean.

I tip what I think the service is worth, whilst remembering waiters/waitresses are on minimum wage. But I don't tip at all if the service has been bobbins

Oh, your boyfriend tips generously does he? Nice one Bella:thumbsup:

SS...I'm happy with happy hour in the local pizza place..he takes me to the kind of place they take your coat at the door and hang it up for you! I have to ask them to explain the menu to me sometimes
I'm not too sure he was impressed when I said let's go for a Chinese and took him for the £8 buffet hahaaa

Didn't you just copy & paste that first one from something BG1 once said?

Ah, fail.

I very rarely tip, there are plenty of people on the minimum wage, and they dont get tipped.
If the service has been outstanding then i do tip.. ie Taxi to carries my shopping to the door, or chats to me whilst on the journey I let them keep the change.. eg £4.00 journey, i give a fiver. Although ONLY if they have been helpfull.
Same goes with waitress etc.. i dont tip often, they get paid like everyone else.
Again i WILL TIP IF the service has been exceptional. Then i leave a few quid on the table or tell them to keep the change.

What about a taxi driver that does 50mph in a 30 and overtakes a community support officer on a bike, wouldn't you expect her to take his plate?
#22
Dependant on service depends on tip, anywhere between 0 -20% for poor to exceptional service.

I'm quite generous with my ratings though as once you have worked on the other side you can understand some of the stresses that staff have to withstand day in day out on minimum wage.
#23
I tipped £2.50 at Pizza Express on Friday night,if my partner paid he usually tips more, was us and kids.
Then taxi was £5.10 on way back home,so I give £6,so 90p.
#24
always tip 15% unless service has been crap
#25
I tip 10% when eating out and at the hair dresser, assuming service is good. I still maintain tips should be earned not taken for granted like in the States.

This clip from Reservoir Dogs raises some good points RE tipping: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBFUDbOldMs

I wouldnt tip unless entirely happy with the service, then I would tip around 10 to 15%.

I always tip my hairdresser as I go to the same place each time and she has watched my kids grow up and cut their hair since they were babies!
#27
I tip 10% when I go out to eat. 15-20% if the restaurant is fancy.

From the UK travel guides I have read, seems like most say its about 10% from what I remember.
