So, in an unprecedented move .........

So, in an unprecedented move I'm gonna take a break from HUKD tomorrow and sit myself down to watch Blackpool V Cardiff in the Play off final; and THEN I'm going to watch the Champions League final in the evening.

Already suffering end of season "What do I do now?" panic; still there's that kick about in South Africa I suppose.

Anyway; my money's on Blackpool - love it when a team comes out of nowhere and then BAAAM!! next thing you know they are playing in the Prem. Like Holloways approach to the game and good value for money on MOTD I bet. No hate to Cardiff (apart from Ridsdale - I have a few Leeds United mates who are still bitter)

The CL final - you gotta go with Inter - lot of time for Mourinho and would love to see him back managing in England one day (City hopefully) but I fear that that narcissistic idiot Howard Webb will do his damndest to make himself the centre of attention (how did he get the gig??).

Seriously; this is the worst batch of Prem League refs I've seen for many a season and Webb strikes me as the type of bloke who has a mirrored ceiling in his bedroom (but sleeps alone)

Yes - I think it's all part of the plan to prevent England getting the 2018 WC

wouldn't be surprised...

I'm actually more excited about tomorrows games than the WC
Club football means more
Suppose when WC kicks off though I'll be rootin for England (and you'll be rootin for AB England - guessing by your avvy)
Bet I end up supporting which ever team has a City player left in it though after England get dumped at the 1/4 final stage.

We dont have any Spaniards
Its England or Argentina for me then really (Tev and Zab) and a darkhorse in Slovakia (Vladimir Weiss)

I'm referring to a stronger team to Argentina ;-)

Oh christ; Argentina are crap
Maradoony is as mad as a box of frogs
If they do anything it will be in spite of him rather than because of him
Spain and Brazil are about the best two teams in the WC and its pretty open beyond that
#12
Don't fancy Brazil to go beyond the semis

I know the scores from both these games.
I downloaded them from the net and watched them last night.

PM me if you want to know the results. :giggle:

Don't you normally take a break from HUKDs when you go to Citeh? Shirley you dont take a lappy with you (though I'm guessing it'd be more entertaining!) :w00t:

I don't think its to do with Ridsdale. Leeds fans all seem to be bitter generally from what I can see. I hope Blackpool make it too.

The CL final - you gotta go with Inter - lot of time for Mourinho and would love to see him back managing in England one day (City hopefully) but I fear that that narcissistic idiot Howard Webb will do his damndest to make himself the centre of attention (how did he get the gig??).

Agree (apart from Joining Citeh.) I did used to think he was an arragant prat. However, he has now proved himself without question by this, yet another CL final with a relatively speaking, low key club. (Not saying Inter are a small club...... but even Citeh have won in Europe not as far back as their last win!)

Webb probably gets more major decisions wrong statistically than any other Premiership Ref. He costs Spurs points every time he refs our games. As soon as I look at the old trafford fixture and see he's the ref, I know there is a zero possibility of a win and that Webb will be instrumental in that outcome.

Seriously; this is the worst batch of Prem League refs I've seen for many a season and Webb strikes me as the type of bloke who has a mirrored ceiling in his bedroom (but sleeps alone)

Hey... what's wrong with mirrored ceilings?:-D

Yep, I bet Levis wishes he could go back in time and delete his post before anybody saw it.
Or stop himself from writing it in the first place.

Any way, enough of the triviality.....do you want to know the results or not? :giggle:

Why? It was an amusing post. But the real funny things in the thread, were the people thinking he was serious!

It certainly was funny.
I'm just glad I was here to witness it.

Any way, As the hamster hasn't put "SPOILERS" in the title, I won't be revealing the results until tomorrow 'cos I don't want to ruin the games for anyone. :giggle:

So peeps, stop PMing me.
I won't be revealing the results just now.

I want Blackpool to win as I want Cardiff to stay in CL to make some money out of them!!

Yep...a woman posting in a footie thread! :w00t:

I bet with a friend who supports Coventry and I always win! It helps that he is normally rat arsed when we make the bets :whistling: So far, he has lost the following bets...

He has to travel to Cardiff wearing a mankini, on the train
He has to dress up as a woman and sit in the Coventry stand
plus some monetary bets!

oh...and how come the mods are suddenly finding time to do normal things? Sigma bought some games yesterday, AW is going to take time out and watch footie, ASB went out for a coffee....is HUKD quieter these days and they don't infract/ban as much??? :whistling:

actually andy no times have changed. I hope england do well. I'm just not looking forward to never hearing the end of it if they do actually do well. Its Anyone but france for me. I'm still gutted over le frog's handball. I actually really liked henri before that. Tricky situation though as my wife is a yank, might have to "root" for the ham shanks.

Yeah - and it showed what a spineless bunch of morons UEFA/FIFA etc are by burying their heads in the sand over that blatant handball. So, cheating is allowed when UEFA/FIFA get the outcome they want?

Yeah, Germany are challenging the 66 world cup using your logic.

Honest mistakes with a direct result on the game shouldn't be changed after the final whistle, however it does make good pub banter

^^ this

What happens in a game stays in a game, if fifa had intervened then other teams would have said look into our game.
Yes he cheated and should have recieved a punishment, but there is no real reason to change the outcome of a game.

In what sense, money ?

Not a good enough reason for changing the basis of refereeing decisions. Different sets of rules depending upon what tournament is played, nah I don't think that's the way forward.

As for instant tv replays, perhaps based on critical decisions - who would decide that ?

What happens if you don't get a corner when expecting one and the other team scores from the resulting goal kick, throw in etc....

Keep it simple. If players were honest then they could make the officials job a little easier. They claim for throw ins knowing fine well they were the last to touch the ball, plead with the referee that they got the ball in a tackle, knowing fine well that they didn't.

If players took the lead, the 'mistakes' would be much much less.

Don't think the result should have been changed. You can't do that after a game as we all know. However I don't think its an honest mistake that france got through and Ireland didn't. I do think Henri should have been given a 3 match ban for the most obvious of cheating. The way he ran away in celebration was a disgrace. Wasn't Rivaldo banned for pretending the ball was kicked into his face during a world cup match?

In complete slow motion it my have looked a deliberate attempt. The decision was wrong, however I don't think he set out to cheat. Looked more of a natural instinct. As before, I bet there were many players who claimed decisions that day knowing fine well they were at it.

I don't think for a moment the game would have been subject to a replay had the Irish scored.
