Is annoying when that happens, only 23p postage wasnt paid but they have added a £1 on to it - same happened to me with a letter from drs, wasnt happy because it was a totally pointless letter too!

Lol! We had to pick it up because we were waiting for something from dad in canada, and thought it was that. Soooooooo annoyed when we found out it was a pointless letter from the doctor!

Welcome to the NHS :)

I hate to imagine how much money is wasted on mail with the NHS, an e-mail & sms system would be preferred if you subscribed to it I'm sure, just implimenting such a system would massively rip off the NHS because every company knows you can quote £10 to do a job for the Gov. then charge £30 later down the line and get away with it and get paid

Yup, I often get letters saying when my appointment is more than once, and yet I turned up to an appointment last week to be told that I never had an appointment. Showed her a letter and she said "yes but we cancelled it in december, must of forgot to tell you" soooooo annoyed - cost me £25 in taxis!

I asked what it was and got told that they could only disclose that information after the item was paid for

So how come they know what the item is when it's addressed to you anyway? :?

That doesn't seem right! :?

Yeah!! I know...

I take my letter to them, they put it into a van where a man drives it 30 miles to a sorting office where a huge machine sorts it out and then a man puts it into a lorry and drives it to another sorting office where a man sorts them out then they put it in another van and another man drives it to a post office where another man, or maybe a lady this time, sorts them out and gives them to a man (or a lady) on a bicycle who then goes and pops it through the door of the person I've addressed it to all within 24 hours and they charge me upwards of 30 or 40 pence!! IT'S BLOODY OUTRAGEOUS...

I had that, fortunately the head guy at the sorting office is an old friend of my parents. I gave him a ring and he told me that they are supposed to let you see what the item is before you decide to pay for it. Went back into the sorting office and the (now red-faced) employee had the item waiting.

In this case it was an e-bay order where the seller had short changed the postage.

Unless you live in cambridge where the post is stupidly slow.. I posted a recorded delivery letter on 13th feb which still hasn't been delivered.. my husband posted a recorded delivery letter 2 days later... thats also not been delivered....have posted letters for birthdays in the past and they take a week to arrive (1st class!!!)... i wouldn't mind if they said.. 1st class 3 days.. second class 5 days... but i'm picky and they say 1st class is 1 day and second class 3 (?) days.. so thats what i expect..lol

They don't say 1 day for first class cos it's not a guaranteed service:thumbsup: same as second class isn't

Yeah!! I know...

I take my letter to them, they put it into a van where a man drives it 30 miles to a sorting office where a huge machine crushes it and then a man puts what’s left of it into his pocket and drives it to another sorting office where a man sorts out anything left to steal then they put it in another van and another man drives it to a post office where another man, or maybe a lady this time, sorts them out and gives them to a man (or a lady) on a bicycle who then goes and forces an empty envelope through the door of the person I've addressed it to all within 24 hours and they charge me upwards of 30 or 40 pence!! IT'S BLOODY OUTRAGEOUS...
