I saw in the papers recently that most companies do not expect their employees to work Christmas Eve? Now, I do not know where they got that info from but I do not know anyone that has been given Christmas Eve off!!

Any of you been lucky enough to get Christmas Eve off?

We may get away early but it will depend on the work in our patch. Howvere every year we all down tools about lunchtime and sit twiddling our thumbs until about 1530 (1/2 hour before official home time).

I'm at work in the morning. I work in Physiotherapy at my local hospital. Unfortunately, some people don't have the decency to be not ill over Christmas. How rude!!!!!!!!

the building where we work is closed for the week – but our parent company expects everyone to contribute 1 day of leave towards the xmas break. no one has pointed it out yet but it could be seen as discriminatory for staff that do not celebrate xmas. some people do want to get back to work but the whole place is shut and locked, and they have to take leave for their own holidays/festivities ... not necessarily the xmas/new year period when it's expensive to travel, for eg.

personally i don't see the point of working when most of our clients and suppliers are closed for the week too; we're not in emergency work like firefighters etc where it is crucial to keep things running.

re: the 'forced' leave that everyone is expected to contribute to -- well they might as well, just minus one day from the total annual leave in the first place, and save everyone the hassle ... thankfully our branch manager agreed that he will sort something out that is fair for all staff. results!

Yup im working today i should say as its now nearly 5am.

I start work 10am and finish at 5pm working at the royal mail.

Pay is normal pay which is £5.95 an hour which all their employees get in this area cheapos, and even for xmas eve its normal pay all year round, last year i worked xmas eve and boxin day in debenhams and they were paying double time which was £12 an hour.

Ahh well its the last day of my contract and i will be either hungover or still drunk by the time i do my shift as i at least got 2 glasses of jd and coke left and i start work in about 5 hours lol

Run my own co. and declared last Friday to 3 Jan as Xmas break. Admittedly there's only me working for the company so the proposal wasn't argued about :p , but on the flip side my company is service based so if I don't work then I don't earn ;-).

Hey ho, you just gotta love working for yourself :-D

Merry Xmas Peeps :santa:
