Film Critic - Susan Granger
Not since Dorothy’s Kansas farmhouse landed in “The Wizard of Oz” – 70 years ago – and the screen transformed from black-and-white to color – has there been such a magical, revelatory moment, as the emergence of the planet Pandora in James Cameron’s “Avatar” in IMAX 3-D. To call it a revolution in sci-fi imagery is an understatement.

On the Granger Movie Gauge of 1 to 10, “Avatar” is an exciting, spectacularly awesome 10. James Cameron is, once again, “king of the world.”

Australia's Sunday Telegraph
"Avatar is one of the best films ever made, a huge triumph in narrative and visuals, that had me in tears at the end. The wait is not only worth it... It's life changing"

Better to give up and just watch the film than go through all those reviews.Looks good, apart from the whole...."This is our Land!!!". part. Bit cheesy when he's not actualy from there.

Wasn't really hinting that people go through the list, just pasted all the positive reviews/scores i noticed on IMDB. Never meant to copy all the links :w00t:

Im with you on the "This is our land" bit. But from one of the reviews i read, it assures me it isnt a cheesefest.

EDIT: Cleaned up the reviews

Never been to the IMAX,always fancied it but there hasn't really been anything that I fancied watching there (Bham).
Will probably go and see this after christmas just to say i've finally seen a movie on the BIG screen.

Ok. I kinda agree that the SFX don't strike me as being as mindblowing as people have been saying.

The reviews have surprised me though. I thought it was gonna get slaughtered but it sounds like a really good action movie. It's only now that I'm starting to get excited about seeing it.:-D

I thought the teaser looked average, then i went to see the 15 mins in 3D on "Avatar Day". Ive never been to see a film in 3D before and i must admit, i was blown away, never been left in awe by any movie before

The trailers really don't do it justice.

I swear this has been a big flop in the US.

In terms of the money side. I think this is the most expensive film made to date and they never got the return from it in the USA something like that..................anyway may watch this...............

Not even out yet and its tracking to be the biggest opener in December history.

This has ZERO chance of being a flop. In fact, it has the every chance of being one of the biggest earners. Imax has it signed up to be the longest serving Imax movie.

Plus with it being announced any day now at being a Golden Globe contender, that should enhance takings even more.

I think I might go see it see if its another one of those overhyped movies.
#27
Just got nominated for 4 Golden Globes
#28
Went to see this last night and it was amazing.
#29
Got mine booked for tomorrow. I'm so chuffed coz I'm going to see it in the brand new Imax which just opened up near me (Metrocentre, Gateshead). I've been wishing an Imax would open up here for years now; so glad it has.

Is it better going for the 2D or 3D version?
from other 3D movies before i have felt let down by the rubbish quality and the price, so hopeing the 2D version is fine.
#31
I went 2D because I was disappointed by 3D stuff before as well, and it was amazing. Gonna go and see it in 3D this weekend just in case though...

I seen it on Wednesday.

Go see it in 3D. It adds 50% to the experience, without doubt.

Its the way James Cameron intended on everyone to see it, hell he waited 14 years for the technology.

Think I will wait for the R5 release :)

Are you talking about older 3D movies with red/green filters or the newer technology 3D?

I have always been impressed with the new generation 3D movies, although i have only watched the animation type films with the kids, looking forward to this one.

The new type such as Ice Age 3D. It was actually worse than watching it 2D and it just gave me a headache.

Usually 3D blows but it's great in this film. Has to be experienced in 3D
#36
looks like a Jar Jar Binks reunion party
#37
I seen the trailer for this & didnt think much of it - but everyone is raving about it.

Worth a watch then chaps ?
#38
Gonna go see it on Wednesday, gold class at Vue. Shame it's not the 3D version, but I prefer the seats and free popcorn in the gold class (and most importantly, no kids)

Genuinely people, if your going to see it, make sure its in 3D. Its not an amazing film(It is good!) but it is an amazing experience in 3D. Its not a gimmick like with most 3D Movies.

In my experience i wouldn't even bother with 2D , with the 3D out

There was an article online, with every review for it.

Positive 124 - Negative 11
