Doubt whether the colour has anything to do with it, depends what version it is. i thought all versions were possible anyway.

Quick google says it's 99% sure it's a 4.3

Depends on the colour not the version, it will be 4.3 most likely which is do able but you need Indiana Jones Lego, or Yu-gi-oh to do it.

That makes no sense.

Thesaint, it's been a while (and probably loads of updates) since I last soft mod'd a wii, but prior to the homebrew chanel method, you had to use certain games that had exploits in them.

The last time I done it, you just needed a few files, an sd card and some patience.

Have a look at hackmii http://bootmii.org/download/

Edit; Sorry, I have noticed the old method i used was only for up to 4.2. if you haven't updated yet, http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/ is probably the easiest way to get the homebrew channel installed.

Any new Wii will have 4.3, so get yourself Indiana Jones and a 1gb sd card and away you go

Replace the full drive or replace just the dvd board and then play copies off disc. You can buy a old style board from links below and fit yourself.

If you don't want to replace dvd drive or board you can play via USB

HUKD blocking emay links. Go to emay and write the following WII DVD DRIVE BOARD in search

^^ going to lose any warranty doing that though, softmodding at least gives you some peace of mind.

I have only opened one Wii, and I can't remember any warranty stickers.

There are no warranty stickers on the Wii, sad huh lol

Soft modding is still the way to go. All your doing is putting the wii back to a state where you can install the home brew channel. Then you can run homebrew apps that would obviously allow you to run/copy games.
