"The centre-back made the surprise decision to sign a five-year contract at Meadow Lane in the summer after his contract expired at Portsmouth.

But reports on Wednesday morning suggested Campbell had walked away from County, who have the 35-year-old's ex-England boss Sven Goran Eriksson as director of football.

The 73-time England cap is understood to have said his goodbyes to his short-term team-mates after training on Tuesday.

Campbell struggled on his debut for County as Ian McParland's side lost 2-1 at Morecambe on Saturday and it is understood he asked to be released from his £40,000-a-week, five-year deal after that match."

Sol campbell is really a **** of the highest order, The way he ran down his contract with spurs (where he was the captain) to move to their rivals is probably the worst betrayal ever shown in football
#2
hes coming to hull city

don't think he'll be going anywhere, dont think he'll be allowed to sign for anyone till next seaon or the transfer window at least.

I thought they appreciated him for that.

Flamoney didn't do much better!
We gave him his chance in his final year to prove himself if he wanted to earn a contract renewal as requested, which we had to drop Gilberto Silva after probably his best season ever and Diarra became impatient that he wasn't starting enough games, so we had to sell him on the cheap.

All of this after Flamoney had already decided that he wasn't going to renew his contract after Arsenal asked him to prove himself to be good enough for regular football and gave him a bumper deal and what made it worse is he decided this a year before he left.

That's the way footy goes really.

out of transfer season you can still get players on loan, all he'd have to do is get a guy like tevez has, to own him, then loan him to a team.. lol

I think he can sign on a free transfer outside the transfer window but I'm not 100% sure on that but I'm positive loan signings are available.
It depends if Notts Co will be willing to let him go really.

He's the Tim Henman of football..........any sign of pressure and he bottles it.

Not the first time.

Flamini moved to an italian club, Campbell moved to spurs's biggest rivals

Though i think the City signing of tevez actually bought him from his agent this time.. so no more messing around...

It's the fashion that he left in that annoyed Arsenal fans and we lost 3 defensive midfielders due to his act of betrayal.

This is even worse because Arsenal are desperate for a quality defensive mid.

It makes me laugh that it's an act of betrayal when a player wants to leave but it's all hunky dory if it's the club that want rid. :-D

and they let Diarra go on the cheap after only six months!

Wenger also turned down Palacios and recommeded him to steve Bruce instead!, how he wishes that he signed him now

Premiership clubs can't loan, its only the lower division that can loan out of the transfer window

Nah, Arsenal have lost loads of players on a free transfer, what annoyed us is he never had any intentions of signing for us but was only buying his time to attract the attention of bigger clubs.

Wenger never spends that kinda money for a player. :p

All Arsenal fans refer to Flamini as "Flamoney" because we all know he went for the money, rather than the football, he knew he was barely going to play, although he was fast becoming indespensible at Arsenal.

Nah, I would of shown loyalty, it's not like Arsenal didn't offer him a lucrative contract.

"It is understood that Campbell is highly unlikely to be allowed to join a Premier League club before the January transfer window.

Only if the veteran can prove he has a just cause for quitting Meadow Lane would he be able to sign for a top-flight team while the window is closed."

It sounds like he'll hope to sign for someone like Newcastle on a short term basis but I think his chances of reaching the world cup are probably as likely as I am to be in the starting 11 ahead of Terry and Ferdinand. lol
