Hi can anyone give me any advice ?

I sold a mobile phone on ebay this morning , however the winning bidder has put his real name as robert kwidzinski and has a feedback score of 0 and joined on 31st march 07,

I have never sold anything on ebay before and this just looks like a right laugh, However I have messaged him and he said I am serious , I pay now ?...but i dont really want to send it to him or take payment

Can anybody give me some advice on what they would do ?

Is he paying by paypal?

If so, ask if he is verified. If he is, and you send by a trackable service then you should be protected.

I wouldn't judge merely on the surname, some of us have terrible surnames.

Look at my uncle Dick, for instance. His surname was Puller.

How much is the phone worth?

I'm always wary of low (or no) feedback buyers when it comes to high valued goods, There are quite a few scammers on there at the moment.

Oh and has he got a UK address? (If not did you state UK only in the Auction)

So its not a UK address? and did you say in the auction you'd ship worldwide?

This has the makings of a scam anyway, No feedback, Wanting to post to a strange address etc.

I agree with Iom-RF.

If you accept BACS or Postal Order you should be OK as long as you send it by Special Delivery, but no way in hell would I take Paypal for this.

This email confirms that you have received a Pending eCheque Instant Purchase Payment for 93.00 GBP from Robert Kwidzinski ([email protected]).

Not a naffing e-cheque. :-( :-(
An e-cheque is a sort of Bank Transfer/Direct Debit via Paypal.
I can't remember if it comes with a 'Cancel' button in your Paypal account or if you have to wait for it to clear before refunding it. Have a look at this transaction in your Paypal account and see if you can cancel or refund it.
E-cheques can take up to 10 days to clear. Do not send the item until you have received another email from Paypal telling you it has cleared, if you are going to send it.

There is no cancel option dinosteve it is saying it may be cleared by the 8th of may, however his address is confirmed, if that should fill me with any sort of confidence ?

Thanks for the help too

I'd only send to a UK verified address - you should have put it in HUKD's For Sale Section :P

Yeah I realised i should have come on here first when I was half way through the auction lol

The address is a confirmed uk one

Even more strange why he'd use an Echeque then.

I would only send to a UK verified address throug paypal as well.

Paypal say your protected, but from my experience your not! Hence, my should.

At the end of the day it would be better to receive a negative rather than no phone and no money.

Thats what i thought , I think this guy is going to nail me, , There are several genuine people who bid on the phone who lost out which is the annoying thing.

So what do you guys think Send or not to send ? what implications could this have on me though and how could I cancel it ?

Once again thanks for all your help

I wouldn't send, not yet anyway.

Mainly because I don't think your e-cheque hasn't cleared yet, but then again I don't really know a lot about them.
#18
Right he just sent me a message i am going to show you as I am even more concerned now

sorry but I speak english not very weel.
I bought the last time 2 items in EBAY and I waiting for a new 2 recomendions. The last time I bought Toshiba

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270112225578&rd=1&rd=1

If you wont ask seller about me.

I paid for this phone 25 min ago in pay pal, becouse you give me answer to late.

Rob.
I give you recipt if you wont.

Stinks to me now !!

Can you not void the sale and offer the nearest winning bidder a 'second chance offer'? I wouldn't sell a mobile to anyone on 0 FB, especially taking an unusual payment method. I would imagine you can refund the e-chq once the funds have cleared. I too don't know a lot about echqs.
#20
I've just checked what he has bidded on in the last 30 days :

have a look here

So thats 2 phones, An Mp3 player and some trainers, Now he has left feedback to the seller of the trainers, But hasn't actually been left feedback at all!

I don't know he says he is waiting for 2 new recomendions, so must be ok! :giggle:
#22
A bit strange that one of the purchases was from someone who was a first time seller as well

I would just tell him you will ship it when you have the funds cleared and take it from there.

If he aint happy give it a second chance offer to one of the others.
#23
I think I am leaning towards just cancelling the e-cheque when it has cleared and refunding it, as I can live with the bad feedback I may receive , at least I will have my phone and not have lost the money and the phone.

What do you reckon ?

It it clears ok no reason not to send it as the address is in the UK and verified. Just make sure it is send by Royal Mail special delivery
#25
He is maybe starting to sound a bit more genuine,,, most recent message

hello, I would like to explain this situation, because I did pay you, so could you give me your phone number, I'll call you and we'll sort it out because Idon't know what is wrong.
I have paid via paypal two times and the following day, the money was on the seller's account, I am not a scramp, I really want to buy it from you.

What do you think ?

He does not sound experienced with Ebay or Paypal, I don't think he realised that he paid you with an e-cheque.
An e-cheque funded Paypal payment is better than a Credit Card funded Paypal payment for a seller but less protection for him. Saying that, I would still be inclined to refund it once it has cleared and ask for another Payment method.
The choice is yours of course.
#27
when my bank card expired, my paypal payments went through as e-cheques. and remember we all had 0 feedback once. if the funds clear, and his address is verified, there should be no reason to not sell him the phone.
#28
just that the guys real name bothered me more than anything to be honest
#29
i have about 4 polish guys working for me and i helped 2 of them get laptops off ebay....there names are a tat stange...but i dont think there is anything that is wierd. so he bid on some phones..ive bid on 100's of things. There are loads of polish guys and gals in enlgand, scotland, wales etc, so id say give him a break, if hes sent an echeque its come straight out of his bank. not a card that could have been dodgey etc..so id say it was pretty legit....
#30
I will give him a break , but kwidzinski (quids in) lol would set alarm bells ringing in everybody i think
