I started this thread a week ago
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/162218/ebay-a-bit-suspicious

This is the second time i have sold the phone and still no reply from the buyer after a week. I have sent 2 invoices and now i will have to report it not paid for AGAIN.
Why does this keep happening, i havent had this problem before?

Have you tried the 'second chance' route?

I followed dinosauraus guidelines and it works

no paypal, cash/bacs/cash bank deposit only

make the rules on allowed bidders max possible, must have paypal account (ironic i know) must have cc on file with ebay etc.

I don't sell alot on eBay but this works for me.

Unfortunately eBay are going to make it compulsary to provide PayPal as a method of payment from the end of April. :-( They'll also be taking action against sellers who state in the listing that they aren't really accepting PayPal or sellers who charge extra for PayPal. Which is ridiculous. :x

I had the item on buy it now or best offer. I thought it was unusual that both times i had a buy it now as i assumed that they would naturally put in a best offer. I had interest the second time and so i emailed them to say if they were still interested to contact me but have had no luck there either.:(

What are the downsides of offering paypal as a methond of payment. I know there is a charge but is there any other disadvantages?

Oh dear, that really does put me off eBay now, far far too many people using stolen credit cards, dodgy details, how on earth can they expect people to use Paypal only?

I also wonder if that's legal and if the EU will allow it.

theres a way add the fees on the postage. Dont list the postage till the auction ends.

Yes, but this makes you less competitive in pricing. PayPal is a cost which the sellers will ultimately have to absorb.

I sent an email to the Office of Fair Trading but they never got back to me about it.

Then you risk getting a low detailed sellers score from idiotic users and get your listings chucked to the bottom of the search page...

I just add the paypal fees to postage. Most people will say they dont like this but imho people should bid what they are willing to pay for both together.

Paypal fee's are fine for the most part as they, as I understand it, match what small retailers pay for merchant services anyways, It's their awful system of allowing so many dodgy people onto their system and their complaint/refund system that can so VERY easily screw you over which puts me off...
