My friend has sold a pair of tickets for a gig on sunday, she posted them recorded guaranteed delivery yesterday at 10.30am. The buyer still hasnt recieved them yet, now royal mail told her it wouldnt be guaranteed delivery because of the snow and is now wondering where she stands if they dont get delivered tomorrow?

Anyone know or been in a similar position?

Any advice is welcomed.

she paid guaranteed? but it wasnt?
i would claim with royal mail then but i hope she took out insurance! i would also get the recepient to hop down to the local sorting office.
Paypal will give the buyer his money back no problem.

have they checked the tracking number to be sure the buyer is not lying? Also was it special delivery rather than recorded delivery? Recorded delivery is not guaranteed at all whereas special delivery is and you can claim for compensation I believe if they sent by special delivery and it was not delivered on time.

Only Special Delivery is guaranteed, but even then Royal Mail have removed the guarantee for this until the weather improves :(

Taken from Royal Mail:

Temporary withdrawal of the Special Delivery™ guarantee

Whilst we are continuing to accept, prioritise and expect to deliver the majority of Special Delivery™ items, the changing weather conditions mean we cannot guarantee the delivery of items the next day in all areas. Therefore, in order to provide customers with clear guidance, the Special Delivery™ guarantee remains temporarily withdrawn for items posted from Wednesday 1st December 2010. We will restore the guarantee of delivery as soon as we can assure customers we can honour the service promise in full.

she paid £5.05 so i assume it was recorded and special? but like i said royal mail informed her that it wouldnt be guaranteed delivery next day. Just wondering what happens if the tickets dont arrive until monday and the gig is sunday.

get them to check the tracking to see whats going on.

You do realise the tickets have to be there tomorrow? Because rm do not deliver on sundays.

If they are not there in time they won't have a leg to stand on because royal mail told them the score. They should have used a courier which offered reassurance and a guarantee.

I doubt RM is going to pay the value of the ticket. They probably refund u the coat of delivery only provided they have lost the parcel.
Paypal will judge in favour of the buyer.

not if they didn't pay for consequential loss.
If they don't arrive then you have to refund. Apart from the fact paypal are likely to, its the right thing to do.

Track where the tickets are now, if at the buyers sorting office they could collect them

if they don't get delivered at all you can claim for the amount lost by providing the paypal and ebay proof. You get 500 cover with special d i think.

its too late now, but your friend should not of used Royal Mail if they advised her they could not guarantee a delivery date... however I bet the post office said, they may not arrive the next day... but should be the following day.

The problem your friend has is that Royal Mail are not guaranteeing any postal slots with that service, so I would doubt if the item arrives late you will be able to do anything relating to a claim etc.

If anything, hope the parcel arrives in the morning or gets lost.

My Post Office didn't advise me the guarantee had been temporarily removed, I only found out when tracking it.

If you did have to refund - are the tickets cancellable/refundable or can you ring the venue for duplicates to be collected?

Did the item arrive in the post today?
