Some g*ts broken in to my car!!

Hi Everyone,

I got up this morning to find that someone has broken into my car. They've used a screwdriver to push the entire lock into the door (leaving a big hole) just to nick off with my cd player.

Apparantly the damage will cost £400 to repair if I don't go through my my insurance company (& that's without the cd player). My excess is £100 & if i claim on my insurance, my premium for next year is going to leap from £255 to £495!!!

I just wanted a quick rant as I can't believe someone would do this just for a rubbish cd player. They left all my CDs too - what an INSULT!!!

our house got burgled at the start of 2006 and they took loads of stuff.

Oh no! That's really awful Saxo-appeal. There are some scumbags out there. When things like that happen it's hard to remember that there are still some good people you can trust.

I feel so sorry for you Saxo and Mikzos. It's terrible and leaves you wondering just what our world is coming to :-(

On a similiar topic, I don't know if any of you heard yesterday on the radio but they where discussing how people in London pay private security firms to look after a street of houses (for £1,000 per year per resident)

Anyhow, the director of the security company in question was asked what would happen if one of your securtiy guards saw a crime occuring at a property which didn't subscribe to the scheme but was on the street they patrol? The reply was a very honest, he wouldn't do anything....

What exactly would this security firm do if someone was breaking into a house they protected?
#10
Sorry to hear about your car being broken into Mikzos, it seems there is more and more crime occuring lately (at least to users of HUKD) :x

Check Sy's post #13 accusing you of doing Saxo's car & when you come back it won't even be as funny as the tiny bit of funny it was before because I've had to explain it......

Very sorry to hear that:-(
It has happened to me & its a sick feeling coming out of your house to see your car door wrecked and the only thing missing is your crappy tape player.
All the best:thumbsup:
#20
is that normal for insursance? your coverage doesnt sound very good... Barely worth the claim
#21
Apparently it is normal because I will lose my 2 years no claims (they weren't protected). The discount i get is 45% with 2 years no claims & so the premium will increase by 45% when i renew. I'm with prudential but it seems pretty standard. I am gutted though!!
