For those that remember my thread about the council booting my parents out to make way for regeneration and then kicking them off the council list for breaking the rules.

Well my mums plea to the council has worked the offer of the place deemed unfit for human habitation has been reinstated, the council are working on it to make it habitable so they say then my parents can move in. Only problem is theres no date for when thats going to be done so they end up getting tuffed out to emergency accommodation for a while.

They didn't bid on any of the properties offered.

Well done Error, hope the house is ready soon. Pretty sure they can hang in their home without the temporary accommodation stress.

My dad didn't bid on every property they were entitled to. Theres a thing called locata here is a paper that comes out every two weeks I think, its filled with council places you phone up and place a bid if its in your banding. I think they were band B. so he didnt bid on a few that he could have when apparently they are spost to bid on all of them.

Personally I think it was sour grapes because they ended up forced to take a property which they refused to move into after they had it looked at by a building contractor who said it was unfit for human habitation and needed I think it was 20k worth of work, the council sent there own person there to look who agreed it wasnt fit for human habitation and then they decided to kick them off the books for breaking the rules.

They did bid on properties in the locata just not all the ones they were eligible for, my mum didnt know that, she thought he was bidding on all of em but he was bing picky on location because he doesnt want to walk far to shops (tbf he does have a permanent blood clot in one leg thats too dangerous to operate on). I think they viewec about 4 or 5 and said yes to all the ones they looked at but where not the top bidders by need, so missed out on em.

Sounds like the council don't have a leg to stand on (pun not intended)
Which area are you from? its all done online over here.. and you don't have to bid on absolutely everything as far as I'm aware.

glad to hear it, I guess the lesson here is that you will need to help them more in future because councils can be very bureaucratic.

Really pleased that it's been sorted relatively quickly. Let's hope that's the end of searching for properties, it's a very stressful experience. Affordable, cheap housing should be a priority for the government. Good luck to them.

What? So the council were asking people to move in to (or at least bid) on housing that isn't suitable for human accommodation?
How did that place even make it to the "locata" thing you mention?

And here comes the kick in the teeth, my partner has found a craphole he can afford and is leaving mid December.

We'd have a happier Christmas without him here, we didnt want him here for Christmas and his son doesn't care about him anyway etc he says while being adamant that he's not suffering from depression...... after telling me a few mins earlier that he will see a doctor after he leaves and we'll be better off without him the government will look after us.

So thats that Christmas is cancelled and the depressed love of my life is going to sit alone in a **** flat "to sort his head out".

People if you ever suspect someone is starting to act funny, dont ignore it, dont put it down to stress or whatever, talk to them while they are still rational, get them to a doctor because by the time it becomes obvious and you dont have a single doubt in your mind that they are mentally ill it will be too late to get them to listen and seek help.
