Some misc action for you...

Background...my Mum is a teacher at a secondary school, she has taught my wife's 5 cousins. Three of which were all badly behaved but one in particular the youngest was really disruptive in class.

During my Wedding whilst quite drunk she made a comment she says she said to all three "I love you to bits, but I could kill you sometimes" in jokingly manner. One of my wife's relatives over heard this and reported her to the head teacher. My wife has said that's not what she said, she said "She wanted to hit him sometimes".

My Mum questioned the boy at school about the incident and assured him that it was said in a joking friendly manner. He said he knew it was and laughed it off. He then went and told his mates that his Mum and teacher were going to have a fight.

My Mum has now decided to retire with this being a small part of her reasoning for retiring early, that and her department head is bullying her.

Anyway...my whole family both sides have kept this from me including my wife till today when I went and saw my Mum. I don't know what to think about them all anymore. I just want to shout at them all, especially her auntie who reported her for upsetting my Mum. She was only being all nicey nicey to me at a BBQ last week...two faced &*%^%.

Its appalling the way seemingly innocent comments are taken out of context by ppl.you have my sympathies in this twisted ridiculous pc state we reside in!!
#2
So whats the action?

Is that the bit where she actually kills him?

Or was she just joking when she said that?
#3
My wife has said that's not what she said, she said "She wanted to hit him sometimes".

I think that sounds worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by the sounds of things she should do what they said she had said to them at the wedding ,little brats !!
surely an outside incident , family party and what has been said should not be brought into school ? yes maybe if said in school time in front of friends but it was a personal family gathering ,nothing to do with school !! people do have a life outside work imo

If she did say it I know she would have said it in a joking way, just been speaking to my wife...or shouting at her (it's turning into a full blown argument). It was actually someone told her auntie this comment, her auntie didn't actually hear the comment that my Mum made. My wife seems to think it's fine that my Mum is upset and it has nothing to do with me. Is she mad right?

She won't tell me the name of the person that told her auntie, now she's saying she doesn't even remember who it was...great she's lying to me and then she brings up the "well I'm not the one that cheated now am I"...this isn't going to end well. Anyone got a place to stay? I can't stay in the same house as this bigot.

I'll be honest I got bored halfway through the second sentence so I'll go with the standard misc reply,

i think the best thing you can do just now is go for a walk and let things calm down - get out of the house for an hour

Hey Lum things are as they are meant to be when you first get married (up & down ;-) ) I honestly think this sort of thing is the making of a marriage, discussing things etc and not walking away, if you do she'll think she is right (as us women usually do) or she'll think you're a walker and just dont want to sort things out. Come back from arguing about it and tell her you accept how she saw it and you probably would have done the same, but it's not how it panned out and now you would like her to understand your/your mums side of things?
Hope you are cuddled up kissing and forgetting everything asap ;-)

We're meant to be making a baby snowflake...I've said maybe I can talk to my Mum about writing a letter of apology saying it was taken out of context.

But my Mum is very head strong and beat me and my brother when we were little she wouldn't touch someone else's kids.

This is why I couldn't be a teacher.

Kids would end up dead, and no one wants that.

she wants to hit him sometimes sounds much worse oO
wheres the action bit ?

I cant tell you the number of times I have told my two I could kill them. The person reporting wants to get a life.
#19
maybe your mum should learn how to handle her drink then that way she wouldn't be so gobby?
#20
I think your mum might as well retire if she afford to, taking into account the bullying and the accusation. Such accusations are taken extremely seriously and I would think that your mum may have to defend herself in interviews with the head, the govenors and child protection officers. If you were still youngsters then you and your brother might be considered at risk; it seems indeed, that you were at risk as a child.

As to your wife's relatives - from your account they seem like a nest of vipers from the horrid kids to their parents, but it seems that they are nice to you and it's not obligatory that they like your mum. We cannot choose our relatives but you did choose your lady. I can see why both of you are upset but you are a partnership now and when, push comes to shove, you should both be there for each other. If you have to be the grown up, at this point, then you have to be open, honest and calm. No one has to say that they are wrong.

Tell her this and tell her it's you and her and the making of babies that matter and harmony is needed ;-) good luck Lum I'm sure it will blow over and your Mum will do what is right for her, the pair of you though should take a step back imo ;-)
