Was in Morrisons 15 minutes before closing and a guy grabbed 4 Ginsters pasties which are normally like £1.50 and they were reduced to 25p and he goes to the woman reducing things next to him and says "you are about to close and otherwise you will have to chuck these out, can you make them 5p" she says no and he goes on and in the end reduces them to 10p

I just found that very greedy as even 25p isnt much but wanting them for 5p(also I would of been happy to pay 25p had he not grabbed them all)

The guy wasnt the sort you'd expect either he was wearing all big brand name clothes and stank of aftershave.

That was me in morrisons by the way. And I have three toddlers at home who all love gingsters pasties!!
#8
Maybe he was running a bit low on money...
#9
Lol it was more that he grabbed all the ones that were left, especially knowing I was browsing the reduced counter too then wanted them reduced to next to nothing when 25p is hardly a lot of money.

It makes me laugh that with SOME items you buy it as you think you are getting a good deal whereas usually you wouldnt specifically buy that product or even have the intention to buy it in the first place.
He probably went out for a Muller Crunch Corner.

Well I personally go out hoping to get reduced things so I save what little I have (my incomes £2800 per year!) But I dont ask for money off a item which is like 25p as thats just silly.

Not as bad as an alchy near us who got caught shoplifting pork chops, he'd gone and nicked the reduced short dated ones!!! Maybe he thought he'd get left off if caught?

Its a lot more than 5p though :whistling: fairplay for trying, why pay 25p each if you can simply ask for them to be 5p:roll: did you tell him he should be a member here :w00t: Don't hate the player, hate the game as they say:p

Oh I understand but I mean that some people go out with no intention to buy that actual product but they spend money on it as they cant resist as its cheap. As you said about going out with a specific intent to buy something is not what I meant...if that makes sense...:?

Thats how some people end up rich.
When I worked as a student at Homebase...a nice brand new 360 Ferrari spyder turned up. Smooth..we all thought.
5 minutes later, there he was at the customer service desk. He was busy complaining that the nails he saw were something like £5.40, when he saw them on a peg for about £1.20. Clearly he know that it was a mistake, as he knew a fair bit about nails, and also wiped the whole peg of about 20 packets. He refused to leave until he got them all at the cheap price.

Hes obviously better at it than you:whistling:

Have you ever been to a boot sale, this sort of thing happens a lot. Some people get a buzz when saving pennies, I think its embarrassing.

I guess people sometimes get rich by being shrewd.
But if you dont ask, you dont get.

You're on the wrong site  I never wanted to buy half the stuff I bought on here but I couldn't resist :prop:

So did you not get any cheap pasties at all? Must have been heartbreaking for you...

I do a bit though as sometimes I know I have enough food for the week then see something reduced so buy it and often chuck it out.

I got into the routine of going around 6.30pm to Asda and spending £20 on food and that fed me and my flatmate for a week if not more with food left over at end and got different food each week.

Got some fish last time I was in, started to cook it and felt ill as did all my flatmates who wondered what the horrible smell was lol

Wasnt that bothered with not getting them but thought the guy shouldnt of been greedy and taken all of them.

Just one of those "would of been nice" things for me.

I bought some bakery pies though taste much better lol they were reduced too but there was about 15 packets there so plenty for everyone and 4 per packet.

I will never pay asking price for something second hand (flea markets, car boots even cash generators) its part of the game and to be expected (ever sold at a car boot? - you always tend to ask slightly higher than you expect to get, the punters go away pleased thinking they have knocked you down, you are happy because you got the price you wanted!) and if spending £50 up I have a rule where I will always try to haggle, or get something extra thrown in 9/10 times it works, except ruddy yesterday comet manager wouldnt even lob in a free pack of batteries for 360 controller when I spent £249 on an elite, tight git. Saying that though with two games it was best price I could get.

I work in retail wahoo the joy.

*climbs step ladder throws a rope over one of the joists above...

anyway :giggle: on friday evenings I have to do both the produce and fresh reductions. If anyone were to ask me if i was knocking this or that down further I'd say no, I've already done them. Then either leave them or wait for them to walk off and then knock them down.

Especially if its the usual scutters that have been coming in for years to buy the reduced products. One of the many things that displease me in my day to day work life

Yep I agree with that but haggling over the sake of 10 -20 pence, cant understand that when asking 50 pence for it. I would'nt sell anything for less.
