Not as sick as a country jailing a teacher for allowing her pupils to name a teddy bear Mohammed.
#3
I understand it might have been blasphemous if it'd been a class cow or similar they were naming and I really do feel for the plight of the teacher but I heard on the news there are demonstrators at her sentence who want her executed!?!? I really don't wish to offend but muslims with this style of thinking really aren't doing the decent muslims of everywhere else who don't believe in shi'ite law (sorry if spelt wrong) any favours at all with the western world and unfortunatley give underground parties/BNP extremists more ammo.

Microsoft Werd. Bunch of looney bins I tell thee. Provide them with aid, financial support etc and all you get back is a slap in the face. They already have strained relationships with many countries due to their extremist islamic values, and this isn't helping them. I say we throw a huge stone over. And for the record, the kids named the teddy, not the teacher.

[email protected], i know, but i think this is worthwhile.
@Cuzzy, couldn't agree more.
@Rosenauk, i am struggling to make sense of the story too, but don't really wanna get drawn into (another) race debate, i always get into trouble, but this is not funny at all

The country have done nothing wrong, she has broken the law and in my eyes she should not get away with it. If you are gonna go to a country you must abide by the law of the country, simple as.

Not trying start one, as I'm not really that interested but as it's all that's been on BBC news this week it's been a topic of conversation at work and my comments are based on the general consensus of around 45 people.

Shame, i wanted to buy that teddy it's removed now. Also the ops an idiot, i found it funny. Why would you go teach in that ungrateful sh*t hole anyways.
#10
Sorry Rose, not you as such, but these chats always end the same way. My angst, as much as it may be at what is happening to the lady, is not what i meant by this.
I cannot believe that the seller has chosen summat like this that's all (i meant) :)

I agree completely. I bet America is kicking themselves for not adding that 'Thou shalt not hijack aircraft and fly into tall buildings' law.
#13
It's at £113.11 right now.

I am selling this bear because we cannot guarantee his safety anymore, whilst he is not impersonating the prophet, he does share the same name – Mohamed. We picked the name shortly after acquiring the bear about 4 years ago, but now by an unfortunate turn of events we find ourselves under threat of a server lashing. We tried to change it’s name to Krishna, but feel safer if it went to another home instead.

Lmao.

Sorry you're right.
I remember the last time I was there they had a big poster on the wall at passport control saying;
"Do not name any cuddly toy Mohamed"

I agree. Send her home as she didn't name it and then we can watch the footage on youtube of all the kids being punished as they are the ones responsible.

Will take happy slapping to a whole new level.

I'd be more worried a mod on ebay has links as they record your IP - can't really fake/change that (I don't think) even if you can change all your other details

If course you can fake your IP. Easy Peasy. There are numerous sites that only allow IP addresses from that county (US for instance) - and is pretty easy to get round that.

So true. What about when muslim parents name their kids Muhammed. Type Mohammed or Muhammed into google news and there are a fair few convicted and sentenced for drug smuggling, fraud etc. So why are the parents of these criminals named Mohammed not being tried in kangaroo courts.

The law is a joke. What about parents in Sudan naming their kids Muhammed ? If these kids then commit a crime do they get charged for blasphemy ?

anyone got Have I got news for you on in the background? PMSL at Clive James joke on the topic

I think mohammed is a rubbish name....i much prefer mustafa! lol

IMHO, the politics behind the story relate to Sudanese actions in Darfur - Gillian Gibbons is being made a scapegoat for the criticism Sudan has received from the West re: Darfur.

I don't know if there are sheikh's in Sudan, but here goes....

An Englishman, an Australian and an Frenchman are all in Sudan, buying souvenir teddybears & discussing naming them Mohamed, all of a sudden, the Sudanese police rush in and arrest them.

The mere possession of a teddybear is a severe offence in Sudan, so for the terrible crime of actually being caught possesing a teddybear and naming it Mohamed, they are all sentenced to death!

However, after many months and with the help of very good lawyers, they are able to successfully appeal their sentences down to life imprisonment.

By a stroke of luck, it was a Sudanese national holiday the day their trial finished, and the extremely benevolent Sheikh decided they could be released after receiving just 40 lashes each of the whip.

As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheikh announced: "It's my first wife's birthday today, and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping."

The Australian was first in line, he thought for a while and then said:

"Please tie a pillow to my back.

This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before the whip went through. When the punishment was done he had to be carried away bleeding and crying with pain.

The Frenchman was next up. After watching the Australian in horror he said

smugly: "Please fix two pillows to my back." But even two pillows could only take 15 lashes before the whip went through again and the Frenchman was soon led away whimpering loudly.

The Englishman was the last one up, but before he could say anything, the Sheikh turned to him and said: "You are from a most beautiful part of the world and your culture is one of the finest in the world. For this, you may have two wishes!"

"Thank you, your Most Royal and Merciful highness", The Englishman replied. "In recognition of your kindness, my first wish is that you give me not 40, but 100 lashes."

"Not only are you an honourable, handsome and powerful man, you are also very brave". The Sheikh said with an admiring look on his face.

"If 100 lashes is what you desire, then so be it. And your second wish, what is it to be?" the Sheikh asked.

To which the Englishman replied..........

"Tie the Frenchman to my back."

you gotta see it from the other point ALL around the world theres been issues about our (muslims) prophet muhammed (pbuh) like the cartoons etc. This teacher should have realised straight away what it would have caused but then again this country people can lock up people for a month without evidence and she gets locked up for much less. I agree she shouldnt recieve the lashes.
#36
What are your thoughts on this terrible story?.
They take their religion so seriously that they have demanded her death and all for letting some children name a teddy Muhammed.
And who the hell is Muhammed supposed to be? is it a elephant with six arms or is it the two headed dragon.LMAO.:x :-D
#37
It's insane, it was a crazy enough story when she had been locked up...but now they actually want her to hang? The mind boggles.

She did offend them, there's no escaping that fact so if they wanted to deport her or something fair enough...religion IS serious to them, but death? COME OFF IT.
#38
Maybe she didn't realise that feel can still be so f-ing retarded.

I woudnt say things like that, I am not a muslim, but musilm as well as other members could find that offensive. You woud'nt like it if people mocked your beliefs, so dont mock theres.

I say bring back the cartoons.
