Someone has hacked my Facebook account, anyone know how?

Afternoon all.

As above, someone has hacked my Facebook account and changed things in there.

I know who it is and confronted them and they said they just guessed my password, I doubt this is true though.

I haven't enetered my details for any phishing emails, I don't know if a keylogger could have been possible? Can anyone suggest what's happened, please, so I can see if I can protect myself?

Thank yous x

there was only 1 person I would have suspected, especially from the changes they made and they admitted it when confronted

was it a guessable password? Do they have access to your comp or laptop? is it a male or female.

I dont think its wise for anyone to suggest here how a FB account can be hacked...

I wouldn't say it was, no.

They haven't had access to my laptop, but I have accessed Facebook on my laptop at their house previously

They wouldn't have minded a bit of technical work to do it

i assume you have changed it now

Use a better password and not a name or easy number system. make it a mix of 3 passwords if you like such as a name a number and a location

I changed the password and I have deactivated my account fo now, but all I would need to do is log in again to reactivate it, so maybe they could hack my new password and log in again?

Have you let them use your Laptop or could they of used it when you weren't looking - programs like Firefox store your passwords and they can be accessed through the "tools" menu

They could have but only before we fell out, so wouldn't have expected them to do it then.
Also, they would have been on FB straightaway and changed stuff after we fell out if they had the password already.

Oh, and I have also had a master password on my Roboform form the beginning

edit: I have no passwrods saved through Firefox according to the tools menu

there you go then. You must have typed in your master password which allows all your passwords to be viewed for x hours. You probably left the room and they just had a nose and wrote down or copied all your passwords.

Id be more worried about bank stuff than facebook info cos facebook gets hacked all the time anyway

Well it wasn't hacked as you can't really hack facebook or any other big site without serious skills. Anyway, they either guessed it, or saw it with that roboform thing (which I've no idea what it is), or have got onto your email through guessing the password. Or a keylogger but without access to your laptop at least twice that's highly unlikely.

you can hack facebook, mine got done about a year and a half ago, was like a myspace hack writing crap on peoples walls about pills that make your dick bigger etc lol. god knows how it was done, im normally uber careful scan comp regularly etc, hasnt happened since

Thanks everyone for answering - I guess I will just have to make up some totally random passwords that even I won't be able to remember and write it down somewhere :)

why? Roboform is the best method there is for password protection. Just dont leave your laptop on around someone elses house without logging off roboform first.
