Something like a Popcorn Hour A-110
Looking for a media player like the A-110.
As I never use any of the online features & only use the HDD to put movies on for the wee one,I was wanting to know if any of you guys can point me towards a cheaper media player than the A-110.
I've had Sumvisions & also bought another poor make before & both of them produced poor Audio & also failed to play a lot of the movies due the codecs.
Also one that the remote control only needs to be pressed once to act :-/
Any ideas what media player can do what the A-110 can do minus the online side of it at a cheaper price ?

It's been superseded by new models but worth a look.
The Designer Habitat Nano 3.0 is supposed to be pretty good and cheap too.
Under £50 as this is for a 2 year old.

Had a quick look at this & found the support good (below).
Is the Audio good as I've found with cheaper brands, you have to turn your TV up to a very high volume just to hear it.Also does the remote work well as again with cheaper versions I found myself pointing the remote at the media player & half the time nothing happened.I then found if you point the remote at the wife it then turns over the channel :-/

What is the Audio & Remote control performance like from this media player ?
I use custom firmware that also allows me to use a wireless USB stick to extend it's functionality beyond that which WD provided (albeit for to see that it can be done rather than any serious use) and there are a few good dedicated forums to discuss the machines and new custom firmwares.

Well if the Audio & remote have no issues then all I'll need to do is buy a external HDD case & give it a go.

So can you tell me if the Audio & the remote control work well with this player ?
I can see why people would go for this, but the Designer Habitat Nano 3.0 sells for a crazy £20 & those reviews in Amazon back-up what I need.
Also the Raspberry Pi maybe a little small & fragile for a 2 year old.
Even this one gets great reviews.

the remote works well just tried it at a distance of about 8m and it responded well as for the audio i have only used it on a standard stereo tv and it sounded great, just plugged it into my cinema surround system but only via the tv earphone out socket, so only a basic connection, and played a music file and it sounded great, i am no music snob tho, but for 20 quid its a great little box and it holds its own
Do you know where you can get one for £30 right now?
