OMG some people. Sounds like a chav to me.

Idiot why didn't he just show his reciept to them instead of cause such a problem, to the extent that the police had to be involved. I like it when he wrote 'I took them ova to the checkout girl and the had put up wiv a barage of staff shouting just show them ur reciept'.

I can imagine the whole shop just thinking 'Numpty show your receipt'.

Blimey, the real crime in all this is that guy's grammar.

Anyway, he should of just shown them his receipt, job done.

He should have been arrested for wasting police time. Why are some people so scared to accuse people of stealing? Its not illegal to make accusations. The chav seems to think it is by baiting the staff into saying it.

I guess they would need to check CCTV?

That would take too long. If a customer can supply checkout #, time and price, we can pull the receipt up on the system. The only time they use cctv is when they have caught someone shoplifting and they need the evidence for the police

if you have been given an item thats been paid for e.g. a drink then it would be complicated but never open a drink etc till you leave the store

Don't give them any reason to question you

im sure, as with a few other people must have, i have walked into tesco eating sumthing bought from sumwhere else- choco bar.

now if the security guard sees me walk into the store already eating d choco bar, he wont say anything if he saw me leaving the store with the choco bar in my mouth

but say,

whilst i was in tesco, if they had a change of security guards and the new one saw me eating a choco bar whilst leaving the store... he stopped me n asked for a receipt, what would i do if i have none

99% of the time, no one will say anything, as they really do need some evidence e.g see you pick the bar off the shelf and then eat it instore.

Had a similar thing a few days ago, 2 girls came in and grabbed a load of pic 'n mix and went round store eating. As we didn't know how much they ate, they only paid for what was left. They denied it but was on cctv and 3 managers saw them.

Grrrrrrr people like that push the price up as tesco have to absorb the cost of the item :x

the more money tesco lose, the more they put prices up to counter the losses

on that note im off to nod... laters

well cctv to me is one of the greater options, but i think its common sense to not eat whilst in the shop anyway as it will give them an excuse to ask.
Not trying to be clever in any way, but I think there would b 3 outcomes:
a) check cctv
b) not check as a choc bar price is so small its not worth the hassle
c) check the bar through the security gates. Im not sure about this one

If you see someone eating pick and mix you should have arrested them outside the store. You only need one person to witness the crime. To have a few staff witness the crime you would be in an even stronger position. They would be cautioned for the offence by the police as tesco don't prosecute for thefts under £10 think its more not sure.

Though i think a stern warning from the manager to let them know it was unacceptable would be enough to scare them.

Stopped quite a few people myself
