Something wrong with my exhaust!

silkymolo Avatar

On my way home from Tesco this morning noticed that my ca had all of a sudden become a turbo golf boy racer car by the sound of things, so I would guess something is wrong with my exhaust.

Off to Kwik-Fit at half 3 to see what's wrong.

Anyone got any idea of price for a full exhaust system replacement on a 1.0L Toyota Yaris?? (Worst case scenario as am not sure what is actually wrong with it).

Thanks in advance x

yea... They are a rip off... I've never had to have the full exhaust replaced only ever part of it.. so I'm not sure what kinda price a full exhaust replacement would be.. But I paid just over £30 to have part of mine replaced.

Well just going for a consultation really, but has to be done this weekend because MOT on Monday!!

DO NOT GET KWIK FIT TO DO IT. Use a local garage and one that can also repair things, rather than just fit new. A lot of the time, these can be repaired, but people can't be bothered these days.

Have a look for a hole or if the pipe has come off? Ive had this problem with a saxo and a 206. Take a look yourself if you can.

Right then, I have a tyre & exhaust place up the road from me so gonna whip up and have a word.

get it done on monday at the same place you're getting the MOT done
you wont find a garage open on a weekend as mechanics are shockingly lazy people

Please please please avoid Kwik Fit at all costs unless its insurance!!!!

As above go to the MOT garage if you can, they maybe a bit less stringent on the MOT knowing you are having some work done there anyway.

The people that are employed by Kwik fit could barely be called mechaics tbh.

Back street garages are full of knowledgable people, unfortunately places like kwik fit can't afford to pay mechanics wages and so end up with monkey's to eat their peanuts.

You wouldn't get many people who work in a cold workshop with the doors open all day. If the office window was left open and the temperature dropped below 70 they'd have a walk out.

spot on there, we have heating but with the workshop doors being in constant use, its not worth heating the outside. just get on with it

* sorry OP dont really want to hijack this thread, but the lazy mechanic quip rattled my cage !

Kwik-fit do price match though and at they have 3 years guarantee that they keep on computer.
I had a new back box with them when they priced match a local garage for me. It had a hole earlier this month and I called in for a price for a fix and they checked the computer and told me the car had the box 2 1/2 years ago so had new one fitted for free.
I thought it was more than that so I was happy enough and have another 3 years now too.

Having it done at my local garage for the £59. I have had a ring around and most places quoted £120+ The cheapest other was RRG Toyota where I have my MOT, they initially said £126 when I told them my quote the guy disappeared and all of a sudden they could do it for £95. Not cheap enough though.

Rang Kwik-fit, they wanted £129, and gave me some speech about how they couldn't guarantee the price until inspecting car and that my local garage was lying:they could not do it for that price.

Given Kwik fit a wide berth and rang back my local to book in whilst double checking price as I thought too good to be true, but they do free fitting on exhausts!!!
