I asked about this yesterday, Butlins seems popular, I went to pontins last year, not the greatest at all, facilities were very basic, butlins seems like the place to go. We are going to try there :)

my 3 love butlins, age 9-12 + 14

pleny of entertainment - water slides etc at the pool, cinema on site...fair ground outside...all great fun

can be expensive if you buy food on site etc, like nearly £4 for a hotdog but self catering can help, or go food inc like i do, means less spends needed.

dont forget quidco if you book

dunno bout pontins never been

two votes for butlins then, need somewhere everything on site or walkable as dont drive.. do you know an average sorta reasonable price for a week?

We're taking the kids (11+) back to Littlesea in Weymouth, which is a Haven site (I think). It's pretty good there with a relatively new on-site restaraunt and an on-site Starbucks. They've got wi-fi across the site, for an extra charge, but all the usual kids activity stuff - pool, arcades etc.

If you get bored with the site, it's just a short distance from Weymouth itself, which has a good beach and town centre with a harbour.

butlins is fantastic!
i have 8 and 10 year olds and they have chosen to go there next year instead of going abroad.

price depends heavily on time of year/term time etc. can be quite steep

lol, i will have both children with me this year so it wouldnt matter - lol

my friend has just opened her own businnes in greece this year and is working every hour god sends and she also lives in a pretty remote place if you cannot drive so would mean us being pretty stuck to the house if we went there which wouldnt be good, so just wondering what peoples opinions are to holidaying somewhere like butlins, as never been

Haven are pretty good.

Not sure if you can get to North Wales, but the park Hafan Y Mor is great.

Huge park, plenty to do, great swiming complex, lots of evenng entertainment.

I have stayed at Pontins, Haven and Butlins over the years.

Pontins tend to be at the cheaper end of the market and are probably best avoided.

Haven and Butlins are both OK.

Butlins have new owners and the parks have had a lot of investment and they are now very good parks (despite the old jokes about Butlins).

With all of these parks I would avoid staying at the "basic" chalets and stay at the "silver" or "gold" (or whatever they call them - each company with have their own names) .

To be honest, Butlins are not that cheap during the summer holiday. I think when you see how much a week at Butlins will cost you in the sumer you will gasp.

These type of camps are great because there is ALWAYS something going on to amuse the kids.

Even your 15 year old will find something to do (plenty of arcades and evening shows like Wrestling, and various "stars" off X Factor etc.)

I deffo go for Haven over Butlins but for me it works out a damn site cheaper as Butlins tends to be per person per night, where as Haven its one price for the week.

I booked my hol for next year with Haven, week in Primrose Valley for £207 for 7 of us! I find it a bargain and the kids love the facilities they have.

Yes this was discussed yesterday and the same unanimous decision was made - BUTLINS lol.
As has been said, Haven is OK ... we've used the sun 9.50 deal to take the kids there BUT we always upgrade.
It's the same at Butlins, ALWAYS upgrade to silver or gold.
Personally i preferred the silver to the gold, it was bigger and the gold wasnt worth payin the extra for.
The hotel at Bognor Butlins is very nice and fairly reasonable.
Theyve also just built another brand new hotel onsite but not seen it yet.
You can now also go the equivalent of all inclusive at butlins with your food which the children liked.
EVERYTHING has improved at Butlins as theyve spent literally MILLIONS.
It's absoluitely ideal for the kids.
As i said yesterday in the other thread, my gf's kids have asked to go there instead of goin abroad next year so Butlins must be doin something right :)

Centre parcs might appeal more to your "smacked ass" daughter (btw does she still look on this site!!)

If you collect Tesco points I think Haven used to be on their club card vouchers scheme.....
