hi,i just registered to become a member (after few months addiction as guest) of this quite a resourceful deal site.i enjoy helpful and intelligent comments and reviews on various deals/threads here to discover my utter ignorance everyday.so i picked up some courage for some advice from u guys(as lotta u quite good, smooth and wise) as it seems like an ordinary dumb guy like me can be easily fooled by this big companys like sony.i bought this sony NWZS545B S series 16gb walkman with built-in stereo speakers(black) from Amazon on 9th dec 2009 for £70.as sony had cashback offer on their various walkman at that time on certain T&C i rang their sony hotline(01379649499) several times before i purchased this product.i requested for a list of participating dealers/stores which they couldnt provide any but prompted they can confirm if i have any retailer in mind.when asking about amazon they confirmed (more than once) it was a participating store and therfore perfectly alright for their promotion.so i bought it from Amazon and then requested for a Sony walkman cashback claim form as Amazon dint send me any and i dint have printing facility and i also wanted to make sure that i fill the right form and etc.etc.(i been a fussy and nervous a bit i think).so i rang sony again about my purchase from amazon and their reply was 'Amazon is perfectly ok' and they would send me the correct form on that regard.days later when it dint arrive i rang them again about askin those same questions(eligibility of retailer,deadlines,etc.).they blamed it on postal strike for being lost and sent me a new one.week later when it arrived it was so blurred from lack of ink that any print was hardly visible let alone fill it.so i explained them again and the sweet female voice promised me another one with better ink and visibility and also reassured me that my £20 cheque s just a moment away.this time(3rd time) it came as clear but turned out a handycam cashback form.with my annoyance i rang them (i was getting desperate to get hold of a clear correct form) about whats goin on and if i m realy eligible for the promotion.they said yes and form dint matter as long as they had my receipt and warranty.with days runnin out and being sunk in snow,adversity and family illness i offered to send them my receipt and warranty separately and waiting for the form to arrive and fill and send it back at later date.but they said no as they wanted it all together.so at 23rd jan,2010 when atlast the right clear form turned up i filled it immediately and posted all together at 24th jan(sun eve). since then i rang them every few days only to get various ans like-- it has not been added to the system yet,they cant see any info of receiving it on their systems,they r inundated by the flurry of claims,overwhelmed by such large unexpected claims,will send my cheque as soon as they find it or would be able to resubmit if they cant find,not to worry as its mainly sending date not receiving..bla..bla.. On 9th feb when they still couldnt confirm of any receiving i began to worry about my original receipt and warranty and got depressed.but all of a sudden on 10th feb they left me a msg on my mob.that they actually found it but it had been refused due to non-participating store Amazone and i would shortly receive a refusal letter.in anger and distress when i rang them to remind their last 2 months reassurance and confirmation she (everytime its a diff staff) seemed not to recall any and asked me if i could give any of their names(those sweet female voices) whoever confirmed eligibility. i told there r few(at least half a dozen as i rang them a lot) and asking name or questioning their integrity was the last thing in my mind. she said in that case nothing she could do as i couldnt give any name to prove that any1 confirmed eligibility.when asked about list she couldnt provide with any participating store list either.she also refused to check any call that might have some trace of confirmation.today they sent me the letter that my application has been unsuccessful as i purchased my walkman from a non-participating dealer.i know its 20quid but for a dumb stupid guy like me principle s more imp than this greedy profit makers and how they get away with their false promises/words.dint expect it from such class like sony.so can u guys tell me what i should do about it or is it just another "let it go".any of u in the same boat or s it just me as usual?thnks for reading it though.
