I bought my fiancee a Sony A300 D-SLR camera for her birthday in June, all was well until September when we were out hiking and she tripped and fell and the LCD screen was damaged, although the camera still takes fine pictures. Only just got round to thinking about having it repaired really, as we've both had other stuff to do.

Anyway does anyone know of anywhere that might repair the camera, preferably either in the North-east or North-west and one that can do the repairs if I mail them the camera. I did get a quote for roughly £85 from a site called 1staidrepairs.co.uk but couldn't find any info or reviews for them, so didn't want to send the camera away to somewhere that might well not exist :s. The rest of the quotes i've been getting are £150-£200 and some say up to 5 weeks turnaround time.

If anyone has any advice or guidance, I would be extremely grateful.

BTW, camera was bought late-May 2009 for £299.99 from Jessops instore, has no insurance for accidental damage (lesson well learnt).

Yeah Sony are around the £200 mark, and didn't want to know when I asked them if it was repairable under the guarantee.

whatsThePoint
Sell it on Ebay and put the money towards a new one, it will work out cheaper than getting it repaired
This one went for £195 with the same problem
ebay # 120478706554

Thank you, didn't realise it would make that much damaged, I wonder how much more a new or 2nd hand A300 would be than that, when you consider that this one was 299 brand new.

Thanks, repped both of you.
