Sony Vaio Help! WiFi issue

Hey People

Partner has a Sony Vaio. Have noticed that whenever the Laptop is switched back on from Standby the WiFi turns off. Even when we switch on the Wifi switch from On to Off then back to On again, there is no light (which indicates its on) or any signal on the laptop. However once a reboot is done then WiFi starts working fine.

Bearing in mind this is a 4 day old laptop with hardly any use!

Has anyone experienced this? Just really annoying when the laptop enters standby and just to use it again you have to reboot?

Would appreciate any ideas?

Thanks

Update the wireless card drivers by going to device manager, right clicking on the card and choosing update driver.

Hi

Tried that! :( It says the drivers up to date..

Not sure why this is happening! lol

I think its the powering saving mode for the wireless card - if you go into Device Manager, select the properties of the wireless card and see what configuration is in place for power management to see if there is anything there.

No probs mate - do you have a lot of locally cached internet files and cookies? If so you want to consider purging them - you can do it manually in Internet Explorer but I've used CCleaner to make sure all of it is purged out. You might want to give that a bash but I'll leave that up to you to decide - here's the internet link to it if you fancy taking a look.

Have you also ran a scan for Malware and Spyware on your computer? Just a thought as that might be contributing to it as well.
