I turned my xbox on and started to play halo except it was really pixely, I went too turn it off and when I turned it back on, I get one red light and a error e74 code!
When I went to troubleshoot off the MS website I tried everything , still nothing.
Rang MS , and my warrenty expired a week ago!
So now I have to pay £60 to get it repaired arrgh :@

What I'd do is organise a repair with MS via their online site. They will ask if you have the 3 red lights - just say yes. Get it back to them and more often than not, they'll fix it anyway (the 3 red light error can be inconsistent meaning there's room for error). It's a free repair so it's worth a shot.

Other option - sell your console as faulty on ebay and get a new 360 Arcade unit. If you're looking at paying £60 for them to repair it, you may as well spend the £60 on a brand new one as opposed to a refurbished one. You'll probably get £70+ for the whole lot as it is, especially if it hasn't been opened.

There's zero risk with the first option. They pay for shipping both ways and if it's not deemed to be under that repair code they send it back FoC.

And it took me a while to work out what cba stood for! Why not advertise the console/psu/cables/controller here?

Hmm I suppose I could try the three red lights trick, anybody else tried it before?

My mate's got the RROD while he was trying to turn it on the other week, so he gets up and unplugs it from the mains but accidentally knocked the TV on top of it, so he's there just panicking even more but when he tried turning it on again It started working. :P

Sorry about yours though, try putting it somewhere cool for an hour with all the cables unplugged and then trying it again, that worked for 2 more of my mates!
When you get it working again PM me your gamertag - my bro just bought Live. :)

EDIT: Oh, and you may as well try the towel trick too!

Haha cheers for the advice WW!
Just tried to register for an online repair but it says theres a problem and too ring CS :(

if it's saying that then it will have already been registered at some point by someone else. I assume you bought it second hand.

You may be best trying to sell as faulty and adding a little to get another "working one" from somewhere, though you may as well pay the full 60 and get it repaired by MS properly, as E74 errors are a nightmare to fix.
#14
Just moan about it. One of my mates had the same prob but moaned about it and got it fixed for free. If that fails, then say you bought it less than a year ago.
#15
This happened to my first console and eventually it went from a single red light to three red lights after a few days of repeatedly trying to turn it on.
#16
Oh dear :( Aint it always the way!
#17
I got it from GAME, as a replacement?
Gr!
