I'm assuming most monitors won't have any audio ports, so is there a way to get sound from my 360 via pc speakers, WITHOUT using a PC.

I know you can get an adaptor where the 2 phono wires (red & white) from the xbox go into at one end and at the other end is a single phono adaptor where you put phono plug from you pc speakers that you would normally put in your pc. I know that isn't very technical and doesn't make sense but that is how i do it. Hope it helps if you can decipher it

a large amount of lcd monitors WILL have a headphone socket on them, even if they dont you simply use a RCA-phono adapter coing from the 360 RCA cable and into the headphone socket one the speakers.

Hmm. What about powering the pc speakers without the pc itself, is there any way around that?

Well a VGA cable is designed for computer monitors so it'll only carry video and not sound so forget the monitor completely, you just need to hook the xbox 360 up to some speakers.

Most PC speakers (apart from USB ones) are just speakers, they use a standard mains cable for power and a standard 3.5" jack as found on stereos, MP3 plaers, TVs etc. etc.

I don't know if the xbox 360 specifically outputs to 3.5mm jack but if not there should be an adapter availible as it's a common standard.
