Yeah I have mine connected via the headphone jack on the tv. Been like that for almost 2 years now.

Put some more money in and get a better set.

2nd hand surround amp (non hdmi)- £30-£70ish depending how lucky you are
2nd hand book shelf/floorstanding speakers, as above really
http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p71065 to use as speaker cable

around £150 if you are patient and you can build a proper separates base for a sound system.
Leaving you the option to add a centre, surround rears and subwoofer when you can.

have a gander on http://www.richersounds.com and http://www.superfi.co.uk

My hollywood eltax £80 from boots 3 years ago (HUKD) might be not nice Tannoy's or Kef's but with a 110wpc onkyo surround (£40 second hand)attached to it, it outshines any tv speakers i've ever heard.

You should be able to digitally hook up any ps3/dvd player to it via optical/coaxial output
ebay toslink cables are fine.

Search on eBay for Cambridge soundworks there's a couple for £1 plus 12 quid postage. Bid around £30 for them. They will be better.

these are good do you have them or heard them never heard the brand before do you know the width of the speakers
#12
I'm sorry but if you are buying them in the original post, you are better off just sticking to the tv speakers are they are probably better quality.

All these super cheap speakers that you keep posting, will be worse than the tv speakers you already have. Just invest a little more and get some decent low budget ones.

this ^^^

Check ebay, look for stuff near you that you can collect. you will get an amp and speakers for under £100 easy if you are patient. i bought my first full 5.1 for under £100, that was amp, 5 surround speakers and a sub!
#15
I got a Sony Amp (non HDMI) and a full set of Tannoy sfx 5.1 speakers for under £150 second hand.

Post a wanted thread over at AV forums for an amp and I guarantee you'll get one offered for under £70.

Much better than the tripe you're looking at

I wouldn't really have anywhere to put O only have a small bedroom

here my setup - http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/8946/photo0009m.jpg

I plan to put the sub beside the stand then speakers beside the TV. Speakers of 9.5W would be just enough.

Speaker wattage is irrelevant. Those ones you have posted will sound horrid, and distort at anywhere near those levels.

according to spec your screen has an optical out. you could use the headphone jack if you really wanted, but if your budget allows, any cheap receiver with optical inputs would be better
banned#32
any recommendations on receiver

also would this LG have Optical on back of sub LG HT305SU 5.1 Home Cinema

I wouldn't be using DVD Player

You can go 2.1 with a pc speaker or with a proper av receiver. at least with an av receiver, you can go to 5.1 later without changing the whole lot.
And avforums is the best place to get what you need :)

For plug and play quality sound you won't get much better than this
