Basically they had Wireless Technika 2.1 speakers above a 'Teknika 2.1 speakers' sign, with the price £14.95 or something. The box was heavy and I figured they were a bargain for that price!
So I went to the self-service checkout and it bleeped through at £37 or something. I asked for help and I explained that they are marked up at £14.87. So off he went, came back and said "No, the are marked as the price it's scanned through as". I thought maybe my eyes were playing up and went back, took the photo and showed him...but he didn't really say much and there's nothing he can do. There wasn't a £37 to be seen anywhere!

I just found it a bit wrong, because most of the time I'll scan things through and not check the prices...so I was lucky I looked really...

u was robbed

They have NO obligation to sell them to you AT ALL.

On the shelf it is an "invitation to treat" (you wanting to actually purchase them) as opposed to Tesco "offering for sale". You could even get to the counter and pay the full retail price and they can still refuse to sell them to you.

should have stood your ground lol

unfortunately looking at the pic, it shows 2.0 speakers NOT 2.1 speakers which have a subwoofer
forgive me if i am wrong, so the price shown was NOT for what you took to the checkouts

Okay, so it's a case of somebody stacking them on the wrong shelves?

...or...someone placing the wrong price on the wrong shelf....

Then you were lucky. If it was my business, I wouldnt have offered you anything.

Tesco obviously have money to do this and it keeps customers on side.

i thought with tsecos if the price was marked up like that you got double the difference back at 1 stage although they stopped it as it cost em a fortune.....still think you should of gone to customer service desk and complained....reckon you would of got em tbh
#12
would have got £40 quid back

Haha, nah, we went at 12am so there was only 1 person on the till, and 4 free self service checkouts...it's only natural I'd choose machine over (wo)man. To be fair if it was during the day I probably would have gone to the customer service area. It's not just the fact they were marked up wrong, but the fact the stock manager guy lied and said they were priced at £38 or whatever...

...but they were priced at £38...right? Just not according to the incorrect shelf edge label...

I had this today in asda living, Went to buy the wrestler blu ray which had a £10 sale sticker on it, however it scanned at £15, i stood my ground and the checkout assistant was rather rude and marched me to the shelf to point out the pos on the shelf said £15, made out it was my fault for not looking propperly.

My reply was that it was dumped on the top of a different shelf i simple looked at the price and wanted to buy it. in the end she did honour the price and i got it for £10...

she was extremely rude though

What did the description on the £10 label state?
[mod]#17

Yes, the barcode was. But unfortunately I haven't had the cybernetic implant yet where my eyes are able to read the prices from barcodes!
The boxes were stacked on either side of the marked price, so you couldn't have mistaken them for any other speakers...

...no need to be sarcastic. You said that the stock manager lied and said they were £34. How was that a lie? It was the truth!

It had a red sale sticker saying it was £10, but on the shelf it said it was £15, so the Blu rays had obviously been priced up wrong, but like i told her i did not get it from the shelf, with the pos, it was just dumped else ware.

Yer i thought so to, however thought it was rude that she spoke to me as if it was all my fault. :?
#21
hah it says they are that price 'each' on the tag - maybe you should ask if you can buy one at that price and leave the other in the box?!!!
#22
Did you look under the Double Clubcard points flappy bit?
Also, an easy way to check if the label corresponds to the product...the last 4 digits should match the last 4 digits on the product barcode
#23
whats the fuss, absolutely rubbish speakers anywho, you were saved tbh.
#24
mamboboy
Yep, not a thing under it. The last digits didn't match, but I just thought if something is advertised at a certain price, then the store has to honor it at that...

but the item has to be the same advertised
#25
lot of tesco hate of late on misc
#26
Although the ticket is only an invitation to buy, and they can refuse to sell it at the wrong price it depends on who you ask. I purchased two photo printers £97 in one part of the shop and £48 in another,,,,the supervisor we asked said....you're the customer £48 it is........bargain for me!

wrong

they dont have to honor any price - even if it is the correct item

they are basically invitiing you to buy at that price, but can refuse to sell at that price.

if they wanted they could price everything at a penny, and just say at the till they are not selling them - if they wanted to
