You won't go to court (well, unless you don't pay the fine!).

You will get a fine and 3 points, just as you say.
#2
You will get 3 points & £60 fine.

If it's your 1st offence, you may get the choice of a £90 fine, 0 points, but have to attend a speed awareness course.

I think it will be a £60 fine & 3 points on your licence
or
course on safe driving if they do this in your area?
I doubt very much you will have to go to court unless you fight it?
#4
if its your first 3 then just pay the fine and take the points.

nah not fighting it i did it i know it.it is my 1st offence, damn i feel like a criminal now.

I'd pay the extra money and take the course - Young male + points = Insurance rape

yeah id rather pay more and clear my name in regards to having points in regards to insurance but when asked do i still tell them i have been caught speeding or as i will have no points(if im allowed to pay moreand do the course) the insurance company dont need to know cos they ask if you have any motoring convictions don they ,oh and thanks to everyone who has helped and not judged. thanks for the website minstrel man

no worries...... look hard enough you'll find me trying to get out of mine on there, unfortunatly I didnt

i found you on there minstrel, what did you get if you dont mind me asking and how has it affected insurance?
#14
I didn't have the option of doing the coarse to avoid the points when I got caught speeding.

I was doing 34 mph and just entering a 30 zone from a national speed limit road and the mobile camera was there, Loads of people got caught that day.

I couldn't believe it, I was genuinely slowing down to below the speed limit as well, I just didn't slow down quick enough and was harshly punished in my opinion.

I took the point's and £60 fine.

You're supposed to tell them now, else you are driving around uninsured :?

It's a bend over and take it moment. Avoid court, it's stressful and will make you feel even more criminalised. Pay the fine and take the points or if you are lucky enough to be offered a course instead of points snap it up. The points stay with you far longer than doing the course.

Good luck and of course, no more speeding

my husband got done for speeding in a van (doing 72 when he was supposed to be doing 60). he got 3 points and £60 fine. His car insurance only went up £10. Hes 39 and been driving for 19 years with no other convictions so not sure if that would play a part of how much it would go up by.

You will, apparently if your doing less than 10mph over the speed limit you broke (ie under 40 in your case) then you'll be offered it.
#24
dont fight it!
my dad did after reading this book that supposedly explained how to go about getting away with it...

....

... he got a £1000 fine and 6 points

well done father!

thanks for everyones two penneth just have to wait and see now

If you meet the criteria for the safety awareness course and they have available slots you will be offered the course, they don't have to offer it though and not all areas have this course. If not then it will be three points and a 60 pound fine (Conditional offer of Fixed Penalty). As always with insurance circumstances vary and have different effects however three points don't tend to be looked on as harshly as they used to.
