Speeding notice query

Hey guys.

Ok, so i dont want a big lecture, but ive come here for some advice as i cant seem to find any anywhere else

Basically, i was speeding UNINTENTIONALLY (i seriously thought it said 40 zone :-( ) and for the past 15 days have been worrying myself out of my mind.

Anyway, due to the royal mail strikes, ace timing for my situation :-( im worried my ticket hasnt arrived, and that its possibly lost in the post or something.

Is there somewhere i can ring to find out if i did get caught speeding?
Im seriously worried that if it is "lost" and i genuinly think i got nothing that day - ill carry on life, and then one day get a court summons saying i havent paid etc :? and that ill lose the chance just to pay the fine and take the points (which, even thought it was just a genuine mistake, im happy to take)

Im just worrying myself sick really, and i can say 100% this was an honest mistake - i just want to know the procedure, as im sure some tickets do genuinly get lost in the post.
Im at the point where im about to ring a solicitor for advice, as ive googled till my fingers hurt trying to find out what happens if you dont recieve a ticket, or its lost or something.

Id like to point out, in no way am i trying to avoid the ticket, im happy to take the points etc, its just im worried the royal mail strikes wont have helped, and its either delayed or lost.

To cut a long story short, my querys are:

1) Is there anywhere you can phone to find out if you are/should have recieved a ticket
2) If it has been lost in the post so i in effect of the eyes of the law "ignore" the £60 fine and 3 points what will happen (will they contact me again?)

If it was by a Speed Camera. It can take months to get the Fixed Penalty Notice through. Just depends how often they check the film.

Don't worry, it's a everyday occurence. And even if the letter has got lost you'd still be able to settle the matter before court.

Just relax and put it to the back of your mind. Half the time there is no film in the cameras or the film is full anyway.

TBH honest about it, as i feel i should be, as this was a genuine mistake and i have a clean license :(

I was in nottingham, and there were 3 of those average speed cameras, for the first camera i didnt even see any speed limit, but it was 2 lanes, so i presummed about 60mph, but, i was doing 45mph
Then, for the next, which was seriously close, i spyed the limit was infact 30 :( But at that point was still doing 35mph.

For the 3rd and final i decided to slow right down and was doing 20mph, but i still fear i have been caught, which is fair enough - i just didnt see the speed limit, and it being 2 lanes, its just crazyness for a 30 zone!

And, i do actually know my speed limits very well, it just wasnt clearly marked anywhere, and i didnt know the area at all.

Im not sure how these cameras work, and im just worried about not recieving a notice, and ending up in court - im happy to accept my punishment.
And, i also definatly do not agree with speeding.

To avoid the big lecture i'll keep this short.
If in doubt, the road is probably a 30. Signs are normally put up to show any difference to 30, and 30's are normally put up where the road looks like it could be more than a 30.

TBH i appreciate what your saying, and im not going to dispute it :)

Im just looking for advice, as i cant seem to find any anywhere else. Ive done loads of googling and just cant get the answers to the 2 questions above.

I know i was in the wrong, but it was a genuine mistake (i dont like speeding, and NEVER do it intentionally) im happy to take the punishment, im just worried i might not recieve it!

Take a look here. Fantastic place to visit if you have been flashed!

I was actually stopped by an officer of the law back in Dec. I produced docs like I should have done and have not heard anything since. I'm still not sure if I'm goning to get anything, but has certainly made me check my speed more often!!

When I got cought speeding, I moved 140 miles away and left my car registered at the old address  its since been sold and I'm off on a technicality

Sorry i cannot help with your 2 questions and tbh not sure where you'd find out.
It's not always fair how these work, i'll admit that.
I know it's not a nice stress to have but i'd just wait if i was you, no doubt as impatiently as you mind. Sorry

I thought or heard somewhere - if you havent received a ticket within 2 weeks - you should be ok...... (basically you wont get a ticket)

I got flashed.... I was on a 50 mph road - went through a set of traffic lights as soon as i went through them they changed road to a 30 and put a camera straight after lights... flash flash - 4 days later ticket arrived in post....... i was doing 37 in a 30 (un-intentionly too.....) not impressed......

I dont object to the fine... just 3 points on your license i wasnt happy about - and car insurance went up around £60 too....

I had a camera flash in my face at 11.30 at night! Within 2 weeks I had my ticket through.

Thanks very much, ive been over and posted on the speeding forum :)

I appreciate everyones input on the subject.

Ive dreaded every single time the post has come since that fateful sunday!
I just dont feel the royal mail strike will have helped if i have recieved a ticket...its probably lost, or delayed.

Its a bit bad you cant phone up somewhere to find out if you have recieved one really!
