spent 175 quid on a diamond ring for my daughters 21st and after i handed the money over the sales assistant asked if we wanted to buy a bear to help a charity and did i want to take insurance out ????? as if i hadnt spent enough !!! It was embarrassing for me and my hubby but i think the sales assistant was the most embarrassed having to ask us:oops: as part of her job .

what kind of diamond can you get for £175?

diamonds = overpriced, better off with topaz or amethyst

Why were you embarrassed at being asked if you wanted to take out insurance on a piece of jewelery you just bought? Isn't that just a pretty basic/sensible thing for them to try and flog you?

I thought you handed the money over and was then asked if you wanted to buy it. At least they didn't stick a couple of noughts on the price of insurance due to it being a young wearer.

I doubt it would be an embarassing situation for the sales assistant, she probably asks the same question multiple times throughout the day.

ye me too, im confused by this thread now lol,

they ask that doesnt matter if you spent 100 quid or 1000 its asked every transaction.

i would of said no as insurence is basically a rip off, and i dont like buying bears for charity... they might hurt people :)
seriously though i hate when you feel pushed into giving to charity, ill give to charity who i think will benefit more...

I was in the Disney store last night & the lady who served me asked if I wanted a gift box for £1.50, so I had it... Then when she'd packaged up what I'd bought she asked... "Would you like to buy a Mickey mouse snow globe for £3.99 as you've spent over £15? They're usually £15 each" ...I just can't say no  so bought that too...

Seems pretty standard to me....could be a lot worse, when buying a rather pricey camera body last week I was asked if I wanted the 350 quid teleconverter and 440 pound 150mm macro to go with it!

when i deposited a cheque a couple of weeks ago, the cashier asked me if i want to make a donation to children in need, i felt bad saying no, but i already had to the ladies outside sainsburys with buckets, its embarrassing and shouldnt be allowed when you are there to do day to day stuff, its as bad as door to door selling imo

If I was there, I would have asked her how many of my children she was willing to take:thumbsup:

Well i was in Argos the other week and bought and alarm clock for £5. I then got asked if i would like 3 years insurance on the item for £1.79. I just gave the women a dirty look and she got the message:-D
