I'm planning to get a 10k loan out to buy a nice sports car as for 3 yrs i've been driving a 1.6 Ford Escort but it's getting on a bit now and i need another car!

So....not being huge on cars can anyone suggest best value for my money?

I'm 24 yrs old 25 in july. [male!]
I'm coming up to 3 yrs no claims.
So insurance shouldn't be to bad but i'd like to able to pay it off within the budget if possible!

What i'd like is a nice sporty looking car hatchback no neccessarily needed.
Doesn't have to be Brand new but obviously for 10k area i don't want it to be run down either!

alloy wheels , tinted windows would be nice!

any suggestions?

Golf VR32 (old shape)
Lexus IS200
Ford Focus ST (this is what I'm saving for - can get a 2006/7 plate for 8-9k)

mazda rx8 for about £6k (3-4 year old)
mistubishi lancer £9k (brand new) basically its the evolution without the turbo

you could get a very decent civic type r for that amount or a ford focus st possibly.

also 3 years is not all that good so take that into consideration

Skoda Fabia VRS, Audi S3, Civic Type R are all within budget.

As mentioned 3 years at 25 is OK, but im 20, and got 3 years.
But now your 25, the insurance should decrease quite a fair bit, as you havent got that under 25 excess to pay if any claims.

Heard the Hyundai coupe is a thrill to drive, atleast the 2.7 is... fully kitted out less than 3 yrs old should be around 10k. Its a Hyundai, if you are not worried about the badge then give it some thought!! Should be a lower insurance band as well.

£10k will buy you a very nice Porsche 911 Click Here It should qualify for classic car insurance as well.

Megane R26 if you want a capable car, Golf GTI if you want the best put together, or the Focus ST for the split between the two.

Agreed. I have a new fn2 myself:thumbsup:

You picked the wrong colour though... Milano Red ftw:p

I wouldn't touch Renault with a barge pole, they have a terrible reputation for dodgy electrics....Alfa's are very expensive to repair and they are plagued with faults.

The Nisan 350Z and M5 are the 2 I'd consider from the suggestions given.

The Honda st200 isn't Vicky butler Henderson's favourite car for nothing.

honda prelude - old but goes like stink

Seat leon cupra R?

Though its prob abit cheaper than what your looking to spend, about £7-8k would get you a tidy one with average/low milage. Could prob get one for cheaper than that, plus there not that expensive to run

A quick £400 remap, which is reliable btw, lotta ppl had it done. And your looking at 265bhp

its on the insurance site i'm filling in the correct details but it can't find the car ...... or if anyone is willing to give me the reg of one they own be even better!

"Currently the RX-8 has not been tested by Euro NCAP and therefore does not have a rating. The Mazda RX-8 is in insurance group 16. All models are fairly expensive to insure."

that rules that car out!

You'd probably find a 4 or 5 year old Subaru Impreza 2.0 WRX with 50,000-60,000 miles on the clock on a dealer forecourt for less than £10,000.

If you're really lucky, you may find a model with a "PPP" (Prodrive Performance Pack) already fitted.

The annual insurance premium may not fit into your budget, though.

BFN,

fp.
