I bought the £5 Adidas Salma tracksuit bottoms for my sister on Xmas eve as a 'stocking filler' , so her pile looked bigger. However when I wrapped them, they were 3 sizes smaller then the coat-hanger tab.
I went back in on Boxing Day to exchange them like-for-like, but they said I must pay the excess as the price went back up (I wasn't having that!). I was told to take my chances by contacting head office via a posting form - I refused as emails are free.
I got a reply yesterday from head office, stating I can take them back and exchange like-for-like, accompanied with printed email.
I know it was a lot of trouble to go to over £5, but it was principle and the staff arrogance that I wanted to challenge...
