Sports Direct, the retailer owned by billionaire Mike Ashley, is tipped to buy Agent Provocateur, the struggling luxury lingerie brand which is facing administration.

Agent Provocateur is expected to enter administration later today after its owner, private equity group 3i, failed to find a buyer, according to two people briefed on the process. They said that Sports Direct was likely to buy the business and that some job losses were expected.

Sports Direct was likely to pay between £25m and £30m for the business, they said.

3i declined to comment. Sports Direct could not be reached for comment.

Like with every brand they buy, they quickly shift production to the sweat houses and produce stuff very cheaply using the label.

Takes a couple of years before people fully realise what's going on, and by then the brand is worth nothing.

Good business model for them, appears to work well.

I have renewed faith in the users of HUKD... I imagined at least one person would jump to his defence.... he really is that bad if the very diverse varied opinions of users here and not one person likes him.

On Agent Provacateur web site:"Whistleblowing policy: Agent Provocateur encourages all its workers, customers and other business partners to report any concerns related to the direct activities, or the supply chains of, the organisation. This includes any circumstances that may give rise to an enhanced risk of slavery or human trafficking. Our whistleblowing procedure is designed to make it easy for workers to make disclosures, without fear of retaliation."
.
There is NOT even a web page which contains a form to fill out for a whistleblower.
There is NOT even a web page of whistleblower results and report.

I'm not against the man its important the UK has successful businessman, we need more of them but also need to make sure they follow all laws.

Seems a strange purchase for the company. What are we going to see, Dunlop branded condoms and Muddy Fox branded thongs. Just seems like 2 unrelated business's. I went into a Sport's Direct shop the other day. First time I've been in one for years. The layout of the shop was really messy with many things hard to find and often separated. Maybe that works because you are forced to hunt around trying to find what you are after and end up looking at more stuff than you intended to and they get more impulse purchases that way. Annoying if you are in a hurry though. Some of the product quality looked poor and not great value but some stuff looked fantastic value compared to competing shops. A pair of decent made stylish trainers for £15 seems good to me, I've seen worse quality trainers for 4x that.

Sad to see another renowned chain go into administration. These days, you only see mergers, takeovers or closures. You don't see any new stores or chains. Nope, it's not because of Brexit. This has been going on for years sadly.

Serial brand buyer then make it cheap in the Far East. I noticed Shoite Direct have started selling Versace and Moschino .. That's a death knell for those brands.
