Sports Personality Of The Year

Less than two weeks to go. Any thoughts on who should / will win it this year?

The favourites are:
Lewis Hamilton
Rebecca Addlington
Chris Foy
Joe Calzaghe
Andy Murray

Hamilton is the odds on favourite, however it could be argued that all of the others have a strong case. This year, Murray has won five tournaments, got to the final of the US Open and beaten Nadal, Federer and Djokovic on the way, might have walked it if he'd done that last year.

Sports personality of the year. Thats Murray ruled out from the off . . . . .
#6
Lewis Hamilton

It has to be, not only for his achievement but also because he done it whilst having to put up with racism etc. The media love that sort of stuff so it will be him

isnt chris foy a referee??? Do you mean chris Hoy for his 3 golds for scotland at the olympics ???

if so i think Chris Hoy or Rebecca Adlington probs push more for rebecca after she broke a world record which is older than her !

Hopefully Hamilton, after what he done to us all in the last race :giggle:

what a selection it is: Lewis Hamilton, the youngest ever world champion in Formula One; Ben Ainslie, who won his third gold in successive Games; Rebecca Adlington, the first British female to win Olympic swimming gold since 1960; Joe Calzaghe, who beat two American legends of the ring; Andy Murray, who reached his first Grand Slam final; Christine Ohuruogu, who added Olympic gold to her World and Commonwealth crowns.

Then we have our four cyclists - Chris Hoy with an incredible three golds in Beijing; Rebecca Romero, who won track gold four years after winning silver in Athens; Bradley Wiggins, who won two more gold medals to take his overall Olympic tally to six and Nicole Cooke with two thrilling victories in the Olympic and world road races.

Chris Hoy for an unrepeatable feat.
#14
The Spurs goalkeeper - Gomes or whatever his name is.

He's entertained me no end so far this season :)

Why does Murray deserve it? He hasn't won anything of any value.

Neither of them have won anything of value.

Hamilton is the only true champion.

calzaghe then not just a flash in the pan hamilton

Lewis hamilton for me. He gets a lot of stick but hes only 22/23, plus the competition is very good in formula one atm and it was very close.

Dont think Joe calazaghe deserves it, hasnt really impressed me really, he was favourite to win in both his fights. Hopkins was 43 and in some peoples eyes he won, Joe should give him a rematch if anything. RJJ was well past his prime, I was dissapointed when Joe said he would be fighting him, RJ should have retired after his fight a heavyweight, he would have beat Joe in his prime

Well obviously no Englishman won anything that year.

I guarantee you Murray won't win.

Agreed.

Joe Calazaghe may have won all of his fights but he never fought anyone of a real pedigree until they were atleast 7 or 8 years past their best.

your right murray will not win and neither will hoy which is a joke but no doubt hamilton will win due the majority being english and the true winners and athletes get rammed for being well scottish

I wouldn't be so quick to write-off Hoy's chances. I'm as English as they come and I'd vote for him all day long. A true athlete and seems to have a personality too. Don't get me started on Murray though...

He won the medals for Great Britain - and if he won this award, that's also British Personality of the Year.
#34

winning the f1 championship at his age is an amazing acheivemnet
and only his 2nd year in f1
narrowly missing out last year by only 1 point in his 1st year i f1
not biased at all though, but got my tickets for silverstone next year
