Either way new pads clean the discs/ rim of wheel with nail varnish remover.

Discs, you mean use alcohol to get rid of any muck?

Am not gonna use oil, that's meant to be the last thing to use.

Yes dont use oil, you can buy special cleaner on ebay for a couple of squid.
I had this & found taking the disc pads out & giving them a good clean sorted the problem.

Put the bike in the shed and buy a car.

My bike was doing exactly the same last week, I'd only ridden it once and then cleaned it, I must have contaminated the pads, fitted a new set and now they are fine
