Hi all
looking to upgrade my hdd in my alienware m11x laptop.
was wondering what would be better in terms of speed:

a crucial RealSSD C300 or

a 320gb or 500gb 7200rpm drive?

space isnt an issue as all my data is stored on a NAS box

SSDs are insanely fast. Do some googling around for benchmarks. The big reason for the difference, mind, isn't sheer transfer speed, but access times, which sink from around 15ms in a mechanical harddrive to a ten-thousandth of a second in an SSD.

yeh just been looking im upgrading it to 8gb ram too thought i would get it all through crucial

If space is no issue then it's got to be SSD all the way. OCZ Vertex 2E.

The benchmarks look pretty impressive, seems to put it up there between ssd & 10,000 rpm disks, I've been thinking about getting one for my MBP but want more storage than the current 500gb max they come in.

Aren't SSDs about £2,000 for a 320GB?

From what I read hybrids aren't that good, anyway asking about the speed between a 7200rpm drive and an SSD I thought you were taking the ****.Yes it is a lot faster. Crucial are generally overpriced IMO.

i w2ent for the reccomendation by Gavin went for the ocz yeh read some bad reviews on the hybrid.
this and 8gb ram is gonna make this beast go like the clappers
