lol true but then england is just a mix of everything else in the sense of it, all the invasions and wars over centuries, thats what makes it even more of a joke, we're all a hodgepodge of alsorts we coould be called alsorts cause we care but that still means we should celebrate it more so for being what we all are,

as you can guess i'm well annoyed by all this still good thing i have fri off or i'd be fuming all friday too!

It reminds me of the MOBO thread where "The ethnics" would cause an uproar, when they couldn't care less.

I guarantee it was thought up by some white middle age dude in a suit, that lives in a suburban detached house.

My big flag is hanging out the window & I cracked a bear open for breakfast to get me started, got blown out tonight or I'd be wearing my flag as a cape & would probably be crawling home on my belly about now

I'm Irish and in my workplace we had up decorations and balloons etc celebrating St. Patricks Day. A few Protestant people in my workplace complained that the colours of the decorations offended them (green, white, orange etc etc) and they had to be removed eventually.

The same people were happy enough to take a half day off work when a raffle took place giving free time off later that day to head into town to enjoy the festivities etc. Would say that they probably headed home though instead. Its a sad state of affairs in recent times that people will look to find any excuse to complain about something rather than take part and embrace it. You never know they might just enjoy it.

yet the sad reality is, its used as a ultra-nationalist pawn. st george is patron to many countries, so should in reality be a multi-national celebration, and it couldn't be further from it.

the 'PC' stunt is definitely pulled to create tension, and those pulling the strings, should be held responsible.

With a day for 'St George'?

I think you need to growup and realise that St. Georges day is horrendously offensive.

St. Patrick, Andrew and David didnt go around killing that nice fluffy dragon did they?
No they didn't, they went around drinking, playing with daffodills and making a golf course.
Lets face it... have you seen any dragons lately? No.. Endangered species now thought to be extinct.. If thats not enough to find it offensive then lets look at the other things here.

White flags with Red crosses? OFFENSIVE! i mean really! by flying them you quite obviously havent thought of those who are scared of white flags with a red cross. I know several people who had horrific childhood experiances with a white flag with a red cross.

Furthermore we are english and we dont have the right to celebrate anything except being able to queue in an orderly manner so what makes you think that You are special, what makes you thing you can celebrate this barbaric, species ending, hateful flag waving person?

Honestly who the hell do you think you are? The government runs courses for people like you to go on so you can re adjust your ideas bucko!

And you can't call a blackboard a blackboard anymore - you have to call it a chalkboard.

And you can't racially abuse ethnic minorities anymore.

It's Health and Safety gone mad. I blame immigrants, single mothers, Russell Brand and Europe.

so you believe a childs nursary rhyme that I bet you sang as a child has racist intent, firstly I just thought you were difficult, now I realise you're highly dillusional, i mean dude, you got some serious issues.

I actually believe most of the time these stories are trumped up as a way for the more intolerant sectors of society to espouse their racist views.

I also know that there do exist some slightly worrisome people who fear litigation at every step so take some wildly over the top action.

Yes

How can you say St George isnt part of our countries history? Just because he wasnt English, he still had a massive impact on our country, and the beliefs of Christians in England and all around the world. Whats so confusing about more than one country celebrating a similar history?

Atleast try to understand what you are commenting about

I asked as I was born in Birmingham... we had our "winterval" festival ( wasn't allowed to say christmas! )

We live in London now... far less interest here in the whole PC terminology thing, though in the field I work in so much emphasis is put on celebrating festivals of many different religions.

I don't really mind what religions my kids are taught about so long as they are taught it from an objective standpoint and not " we are the only religion, we are the chosen" crapology. In fact learning about others beliefs and ways of life can only help them mature their own understandings of the world and theology.

On the note of the "ba ba black sheep" thing, where everything with "black" in it has to be relabled something else because "black" is deemed an offensive term, does anyone else think that this is some sort of hyper-racism? I mean, my black friends, I occasionally find myself forgetting that they're foreign or ethnic or whatever, partly because I'm kinda stupid, and partly because, well, I don't know, insert some hippy sht about us all being alike on the inside here. It just doesn't matter that much to me, so my mind loses focus. With these guys who seem to obsessively associate anything referring to colour with black people, doesn't that demonstrate some seriously obsessive racially oriented thinking? And doesn't the drive to promote that kind of thinking just serve to promote racism?
