With VAT going back up in February (apparently)and deciding i am seriously cutting back on what i spend.. i have made a start!TakingWendys advice I am going to wrap them up,label them and put them away!!

So in the sales I have bought.. Niece a pair of trainers (sketchles or something) and a Gold Digger puffy girls gillet thing with fur trim around hood & Nivia LipBalm Set.

Father in law -Pair of Nike Trainers and Bench Zip Top & Umbro Socks

Mother in Law- Pretty Gold Digger slippers and a laptop cushion thing.

Brother In Law-Really nice coat ( my best bargain! Was £119 quid reduced to £20!) & Gilette weekender Bag & accessories. & Pack of 5 Umbro Socks

Sister - CosySnug Rug & I will get her a Dorothy Perkins Voucher

Friend -Olay Gift Set & Nivia LipBalms Gift Set.

Its only my mum & hubs i need to get... and my kids!

Time to buy some reduced wrapping paper n giftbags! LOL

you DO realise that the VAT increase is only 2.5%???!!! :whistling:

so, for every £100 you spend, you'll only save £2.50 by buying BEFORE the VAT rate goes back up.

I'd personally wait for next year to come when the items your looking for will naturally do down in value ( way more than just £2.50)

Also, stagger your spending. why assult your bank account TWICE in a few months? let it recover

VAT goes up in January. ;-)
#8
I'm just jealous that I can't save £300 a month!
#9
Im going to chop my hand off next yr! and resist the urge to buy more ( hard i know)
I might leave getting my kids till later... least ive done all the extended familys , done n dusted lol

vat goes up by 2.5% will barely make a difference, most shops didnt even change their prices anyway when it was only 15%

it is a good idea for some bits bu be careful, last xmaas i had bought by summer...a few bits were faulty when opened etc, also with little ones you never know if they will change their minds about what they are into, or what sizes in clothes, smelly sets ect are great for stocking up on, i got a couple of sets in next yesterday for myself, as they included the perfume i like with extra bits for less than i pay just for perfume
#13
talking of perfume... i found fantastic offer on amazon...like30quid off! i paid 4quid!

I will find it now... ideal gifts, even if its for school teacher or something..

i generally buy in the january sales too you can get some great bargains, and if you head to boots on around the 14th Jan all the xmas stock is 75% 0ff (well it has been the last couple of years)
#16
I did that last year buy buying loads of sale items cheap for this year so will be on the lookout again now.

I tend to find it's better buying something people would enjoy and buying it when you see it / or when it's cheap rather than wait until December and hoping to find something.
#17
its a good idea this though... I should look for stuff..
i would get stuff though and peoples tastes would change knowing my luck... that or I go shopping in the sale stuff and see too many clothes I like..and forget I am meant to be buying presents

This is a great idea provided that in 12 months' time you can remember where you've hidden everything today.

if you forget and you eventually find... it may be something you yourself really want :-D ..present to yourself :?

i buy for over 50 people and my kids so i start early, but it covers birthdays as well as christmas. this has been the first year where i have bought stuff in the last few weeks just to get the rush!! lol

saying that, i am not going to buy too much in jan sales as bought too much wrapping paper and cards last year as well as too many gifts! so they have been put away for next year. Also, there were great sales all year so am going to spread it over the year. I also put £100 away for 10 months and that gets kids stuff, food etc (although had most of the food in this year due to all the fab deals)

this has been my least stressful christmas ever - even with 2 kids who were ill for a fortnight!!! meant that we stayed in, no rushing, no expectations - fab! although missed panto - but theres still time.......... oh yes there is! lol

If you find generic wrapping paper for any occasion let us know, saw alot of 99p offers but only for a measly 3meters or so.

I'm not quite so bad, but I do keep a basic MS Excel Database of where stuff is so i can reference it and find it easily lol

30p Ikea bags, godsend, just ensure you label them with numbers/letters and keep a list of what is where!

If you really are that stuck, B&Q do plastic external garden sheds lol!
