Evening all,

I have just started playing golf and am looking for a good starter set of clubs. I am a bit tight and really only want to spend around £100 as I'll prob give it up soon! I have seen some sets in Sports World/Direct.

Anyone seen better offers? Or got any suggestions? I have a bag etc just looking for clubs.

get wilson 1200 ones, you can get thm on various sites around 100-130 mark with a bag. Don't buy some chepos from sport world, please.... wilsons have a nice feeling, plus you'll usually get couple hybrids with them and they're sooooo easy to play... well, easier than irons :)

good luck in keeping faith that you'll learn it once! I been trying to get better on couple greens, now practising on driving range-cheap and cool.

all the best.

affordablegolf or onlinegolf.co.uk Unfortunately I'd have to say ebay :) if you won't find 1200 at a good price, you may wanna look at wilson firestick ones, decent as well. Have heard some bad opinions about RAM and Prosimmon golf clubs, especially the cheap ones, don't know where the truth is... Deal is, spending 150 for a full set+bag is not too much, plus if looked after will last for years, or until your skills force you to upgrade :)

you can also think about a 'half set' - inlcudes putter, 2-3 irons, 2-3 woods...all in all decent enough for a starter (seen them from wilson for 99 recently-don't know where, sorry)

Take care

p.s. never buy balls on the course from all those weird 'five for a quid mate?' people :)

Length should be based on height and the athletic ability of the junior golfer.. I know there are kids out there who have good hand-eye coordination who can make good contact with their parent’s clubs, but they are far and few between :) Most junior golfers choke down automatically on adult clubs so the length will be proportionate to their height, but... For instance, a chubby child has more body mass to swing around than a thin tot does, and may need a longer shaft. Youngsters with excellent hand-eye coordination could potentially use a longer club too. No good answer here, I'm afraid.
But most junior clubs are broken down into 3 or 4 age groups. These may be 3-5 years, 6-8, 9-11 and 11+. The age groups are approx and the most important element is the height of your child... do some digging on google, I guess :)

good luck

Hi mate, dont know if you have any yet... I was in your situation a couple of months back, read a few reviews about various sets and the best by far were some from The Sports HQ made by Prosimmon. The were around the £75 mark and I have to say, as a beginner I am very impressed with them.

I have passed them round my mates to look who have been playing longer than me and they were impressed to... please see below for link to clubs... Also if you went for these dont forget Quidco

There may be vouchers around as well as I used one when I purchased mine,

cheers
